To think that Emma Watson is no feminist

So after JKR published her incredibly powerful essay and disclosed being a survivor of domestic abuse and sexual violence, Emma decides to tweet that trans women are women. Emma doesn’t condemn the misogynist abuse and threats of sexual violence that JKR has received, nor is she concerned about the facts JKR has shared of an over 4000% increase in girls being referred to gender clinics, or how autistic girls are disproportionately represented.

What is Emma’s “feminism” for exactly?

I suspect it's for herself.

Until this point I have really like Emma Watson but FFS, feminist my arse.

Women are women
Transwomen are transwomen
Men are men
Trees are trees
Sharks are sharks

It’s not bloody rocket science. I am a woman. I am not a transwoman. Because if transwomen are women then surely as a woman I am also a transwoman (which I’m not).

Woman = woman Correct
Transwoman = woman Incorrect
Shark = tortoise Incorrect
Pineapple = pineapple Correct

JK Rowling is an absolute bloody legend.

I agree, but I actually think she is helping feminism. I knew very little about the issues (head in the sand/bubble) but because J K Rowling has been in the headlines, I read her comments and statement and then read Daniel Radcliffe’s and Emma Watson’s and thought WTF! What they were saying seemed idiotic and insulting to the readers intelligence.

To me, JK came across as eloquent, thoughtful and dignified whereas they both came across as spiteful and jumping on the bandwagon for their own benefit rather than really caring about the cause. JK mentioned another feminist and I’m off to google her and learn a bit more.

Emma Watson should visit the female prison estate inmates of the UK. And spend 45 minutes with at least 7 from each prison. And honestly report back on what they have to say.

(Especially those who have officially raised grievances regarding rape (in prison) or sexual assault (in prison) or those who have become pregnant (whilst in prison). She is/was some sort of UN Ambassador after all. Use all that publicity for good)

Actual feminism in the support of lost/gagged voices as opposed to "C.V. Wokey 'hire me, hire me' "feminism"'.

I was waiting for Emma to come out in support of the TWAW nonsense. It has come as no surprise to me which side she has come down on. Her feminism is the brand that centres men.

She is a feminist - there isn't only one version of feminism. She can be a feminist and still hold a different opinion.

I've posted on this before.

She is no friend to women and her interview with Paris Lees last year was embarrassing.

We all need a new name/re brand of the word "feminism" that Wokey Women use, that centre men.

Fem-men-ism.

Emma Watson is a Fem-men-ist (?) Femme-men-ist (?)

A belief system that centres men's feelings above women's rights to safety, dignity and privacy is not feminism. I don't know what you want to call it (simperingism? Coolgirlism? Wokeism?) but it sure as shit isn't feminism

Feminists don't throw women under the bus.
That's like saying you support BLM, but dont support people from Pakistan.

There are shades of opinion and even different opinions within feminism, of course. It’s not feminism unless it centres the issues faced by women though...
What EW has said in that tweet is so far from feminism it prevents her from being feminist. You can agree with her if you like, that’s your prerogative, but that opinion is not a feminist one. It’s at absolute odds with feminism.

She's a feminist, she's gets to decide what that means just like I get to, you can't gatekeep feminism because you don't agree with someone elses personal beliefs.

What happened to 'everyone should be a feminist' wasn't there tonnes of advertising done about how everyone should get into feminism, men, women, teenagers, elderly.

But now if they don't have the same beliefs about trans people then they arnt feminists to you?

I'm not remotely surprised either. She probably wants to compensate/deflect from all the flack she got on Insta over her BLM posts as well.

^^ this!! I was horrified reading the screenshots on the thread in FWR. None of the #bekind wankers seem keen to challenge these comments.

I'm struggling to call anyone who calls a biological male a woman a feminist. Anyone who can't see the issues that causes to actual women, in terms of our safety for example, let alone our fundamental existence as a sex, isn't a feminist surely.

Rowling wrote about how women should not be reduced to 'menstruators'.

What did Watson reply with? Trans people are who they say they are. J K was concerned with women and Emma, well made it not about women. Trans people are more important than women it seems.

Feminist my arse

It came as no surprise. Soon she will do or say something that woke people find unacceptable and she will be permanently cancelled.

No amount of penance and apologising will be good enough. She'll have to sacrifice the blood of her first born to be accepted back into the fold.

Just look at Eddy Redmayne's simpering "transwomen are women" tripe and the abuse he is still getting because he took the role of a transwoman in "The Danish Girl"

Nothing will ever be good enough.

Report
TorkTorkBam · 11/06/2020 09:02

@NekoShiro I find it confusing that she's a feminist but only condemned the woman herself and not the men who are hurling abuse at the woman for her opinion.

That's odd for a women's ambassador, do you not think?

Report
oooompa · 11/06/2020 09:03

Neko if I said that I was a feminist and thought men deserved more rights than women, would you call me a feminist? Because it's my right to call myself what I want and define it how I'd like?
