Laminate vs LVT

I am aiming this question towards those who have had/have laminate.

Woild you recommend over lvt? I know it says with laminate not to mop due to water over time ruining the wood.
What about expansion, our house gets extremely hot, can you tell when it's expanded i.e feel it when walking?

Has anyone had waterproof laminate put on, is the feel of it a lot different to normal laminate? Thinking of using it in areas of house that will more likely have more spillages, as oppose to lvt, as it's working out far too expensive and this isn't our forever home.
