Is Boris Johnson really racist?

Something on my fb has popped up and to me it leads to an interesting debate.
Boris can be a pain, has had a privileged life and appears to look very pale white. However given his ancestry and that of his wife that he has had 4 children can he really be labelled as racist?

He’s said lots of racist things before. People are what they repeatedly do. I consider him racist.

He said something about black people liking melons, or having melon smiles a while ago. The prick is a racist.

I am not a fan of Boris and have never voted Tory.

However I have read some stuff that suggests the often quoted remarks cited as his "racism" are actually taken out of context. However Boris is not stupid (in spite of his buffoon act) and he must have realised how it would look so I do suspect his motives.

If not then he sure has made a lot of racist comments for someone who isn't racist...

So yes, he is racist.

Yes, yes he is. Why couldn't he be exactly?

He has called Muslim women in traditional dress letterboxes in the past. He called south asians pikaninees. He's also a misogynist. Mysoginists can be and often are married to women. He has also made derogatory remarks about gay men calling them tank topped bum boys. To be honest, Boris is so privileged, his prejudices know no bounds.

Women who wear hijabs look like letterboxes. Yep, sounds racist to me. Not to mention sexist.

Well I mean it was common for slave owners to produce mixed race offspring. Likewise it’s perfectly possible for Jews to be racist. I struggle to see what you’re getting at really.

Yes he is a racist, closely followed by Prince Philip, who was totally obnoxious in his younger days.Glad he has disappeared from Public Life now,I never found him amusing, although many others did.

Of course he's racist. It's well documented.

Boris will say anything he thinks will make him popular - I don't believe he has any morals.

But this is where the debate comes in - can he be racist against himself?
Is there a demarcation? Where does your DNA stop and your outward appearance take over?

That's probably the most accurate!

Women in the hijab look like letter boxes (maybe he needs to drive to a castle to have an ege test), black people have watermelon smiles and are piccanninies, he also said Malaysian women only go to university to find a husband.

He also said the problem with Africa is that ‘we’ are not in charge anymore.

He has written a about his ‘tottymeter’ multiple times. He also as part of his 2005 campaign advised that a vote for him from a man would increase his wifes breast size by 50%.

He also thinks I’m a tank topped bum boy and thinks a marriage between two dogs is more worthy than one between two men. He fails to mention gay women as they are clearly a source of entertainment to him.

So, no, he isn’t really racist, he is also xenophobic, sexist, islamaphobic and homophobic.

But he has Muslim women in his ancestry so does that make a difference?

“But he has Muslim women in his ancestry so does that make a difference?”

Why would it? If there’s no actual link to them?....

His Turkish ancestry does not excuse or explain any of the racist slurs he has employed over the years. If anything that, along with his privileged education makes his racism worse as arguably he should know a lot better.

If in doubt just look up some extracts from his 2004 novel "72 Virgins". There is no context where the use of some of the words and phrases in that book (which I will not type here) are acceptable - particularly not from a man with plans to become a Prime Minister.

He is disgusting.

As has already been said some of his racist comments have been widely reported stripped of context; at least one of the comments about the hijab was made in defence if the rights of women to wear them.

But his bumbling, BoJo of the Boy's School caricature is hacknied in the extreme. He is a man who is either choosing to be or really is lost in times past. Which it is depends on your take on his intellect.

He is what he is. Something in him resonates, just as something in Rees Mogg does. They are, apparently, votable!

IME being racist and being a hypocrite often go hand in hand.

Has he not personally appointed people from various different ethnic origins into some of the highest positions of office in the country?
Odd thing to do if he was racist.

OP, we've all got different heritages in our bloodline somewhere from generations ago.

Look up "internalised racism" and "Boris Johnson's racist remarks". HTH.

A bit like “I can’t be racist because I’ve got black friends”, which proves precisely nothing. Those BAME cabinet members are window dressing.

All abusive men have women in their ancestry. White Christian European people have converted to the Muslim religion and got involved in bombing campaigns. Men who are closet homosexuals are the most anti gay activists.

You are your actions/words, not your heritage.

My ex-H's family have a black great-great-great ancestor, they often bring it up if accused or suspected of racism. The majority of them are racist asF.
