Have been really cold in house for the past week, noticeably when ds and I get up in morning. Today found out that DH had switched off the heating from the boiler ( only noticed cause I thought to look at boiler). DH leaves for work early in morning, I work from home whilst looking after two you DC. Are we thinking this is OK? I'm very Dissapointed on him x

It,s not cold. But why don,t you just turn it back on, why is it an issue.?

I have also had heating on, why are people so quick to tell you how “they” feel I order to debunk how you feel ??
Has he deliberately tried to stop you putting heating on or habit to switch off in summer months?? This would guide my response.

In June I would wear a jumper, not put the heating on....

I'd put it back on. I'd have it turned down low just to take the chill off. He's being unreasonable, he's not home all day.

Your dh is unreasonable to switch off boiler. But I find it difficult to sleep in the heat, if dh was putting heating on throughout the day I would really struggle. That said I would talk to him and hope he would decide to wear a jumper.

We use blankets or layer up this time of year but as you're the one that's there, are cold & you're happy to have the heating on YANBU.

I don't see how he's being 'unreasonable' to turn off the heating at the boiler, something that can be easily undone and could have been done simply to avoid it coming on accidentally. Unreasonable would be telling OP she is forbidden from turning the heating on, or putting some kind of lock on the boiler flap to stop her getting access to it.

Only noticed because you thought to look at the boiler?!
I can’t decide this on the info given.
He could be an abusive prick who leaves his family cold.
Or he could be an ordinary person who thinks June (after the hottest spring on record) is a good time to turn off the heating, knowing that if his wife is cold she’ll just go and turn the heating on 🤷🏻‍♀️
Unless you’ve got some back story, I’m veering towards the latter.

I turned the heating off weeks and weeks ago.
Why is that unreasonable ?
We are in June. (I turned it off in April).

If it ever turned cold enough to need the heating on (rather than socks, and a jumper), then whoever was in the house would turn it back on.

Have you actually spoken to him about it?

  • hey, I’ve been cold these last few days - when did you turn the heating off?

  • about 3 weeks ago, it was a proper heatwave. It’s turned nippy now though hasn’t it?! I didn’t think to turn it back on again - not surprised you did though - brrrrr!

Drama averted 😌

I've had the heating on twice this past week. Your Dh is being a dick, if you and the kids are cold get some heat on.

All these "no heating in June"

You clearly don't live where I live. I still need the heating on most days as it's bloody freezing

OP, just turn the boiler back on

What does it matter what anyone else thinks?
If you're cold, turn the heating up - and remember the hot spell we had for three / four weeks before you feel guilty.
I can't stand being cold.

YABU.
Put in more jumpers or turn it back in again. But do think of the current environmental emergency.

Did he switch it off ages ago and just not think to switch it back on again? Did you not notice that the heating wasn't coming on?

Thank you so much for all your replies.
I just felt like having a rant!!
Just to answer a few replies.....
We live in Scotland and honestly I am a cold "tattie" always have a jumper on and two pair of socks 😂. Definitely , just wanted a wee rant to other adults.
Home schooling children for for 11 weeks now, just like so many other parents.
Now that I know to check the boiler, I can ramp it up through out the day ☑️
