Hello, sorry i know it is not AIBU but i was meant to cancel a tesco slot for today yesterday but forgot. My basket only had tea bags which is going to cost me £16.00. Does anyone know what would happen if i didn't open the door when the delivery came?
Thanks.

Is it definitely coming? I thought there was a minimum order value?

StillCoughingandLaughing · 07/06/2020 09:59

Is it too late to amend the order and add more items to avoid the excess charge?

Report
TingTastic · 07/06/2020 10:00

Can you try ringing up customer services and ask to cancel?

Report
WeAllHaveWings · 07/06/2020 10:00

Try calling customer service now and see it theyll cancel the driver coming.

If they can't you might get a refund for the tea bags but you'll still need to pay the delivery charge.

Just answer the door and take the teabags.

Did you get a reminder your delivery was coming today?

Oh sorry I thought the teabags were £16. Grin
I think not answering the door is very rude. You could answer and say you don’t want them if you can’t cancel.

It is definitely coming. There is a £4.00 additional charge as the basket value was under £40.00.

Unfortunately yes, last amendments were last night at 11.45ish.

you can refuse it but I would just call customer services and they will cancel.

So you ordered £12 worth of tea bags? How many are that ?

I can’t get a slot for love nor money... and people are clearly wasting them. Yabu.

Pretty sure she’ll be charged for the delivery too.

I get really cross with people like you.
Loads of us are desperate for these slots as we are either in the vulnerable group, working full time or both.
It's bad enough to selfishly book them if you don't need one, but to simply not open the door so the order is wasted is appalling.

Where we are there are plenty of slots now.

Just call customer services OP. Or refuse it and they'll take it back.b

Thanks, just trying now. They have just contacted the store and they will cancel. I wasn't sure whether they would as it is my fault.

FFS people it was clearly a mistake, stop being arseholes about it. You will all yourselves have made mistakes which caused inconvenience to other people, and I expect you wanted a modicum of understanding then yourselves.

OP - call customer services, they should be able to cancel the order.

Actually we fall under the vulnerable group also with 3 family members having various issues. I would have used the slot but a friend got us the essentials we needed as we had a death in the family yesterday and it slipped my mind. But thank you for the judgemental post.

Yes we have all made mistakes but to even think about not opening the door to the delivery woman/man who has driven to your house reveals the OP's true colours.
And for what it's worth I haven't been able to get a slot for weeks despite setting an alarm several times through the night to check the website.

Do you feel a little bit ashamed about this now that you’ve seen OP’s post about being vulnerable and having a death in the family?

You can’t judge somebody’s ‘true colours’ from one incident where they made a mistake and are asking for advice on how to rectify it, and you would hate it if people did that to you.

Grin i wish. It was the delivery charge and £4.00 charge that made it more expensive.

I've had this at work before and I was able to refuse when they arrive, there were no issues. Glad you got sorted!

No, as I have said we all make mistakes so if what she suggests is true then that is clearly a reasonable oversight.

To not open the door once the delivery arrives. There is absolutely no excuse for that. Most reasonable people would either think to phone customers services themselves or take it on the chin.

Really frustrating when you can't get slots and people who do waste them

Report
Pipandmum · 07/06/2020 10:20

Glad it's sorted and sorry for your loss. I've often started ordering but forget to check out (therefore losing the slot). Plenty of slots available these last two or three weeks here.
