To be in awe of Devi Sridhar?

Chair of Global Public Health at the University of Edinburgh. She’s in her mid-30s.

I follow her on Twitter and she speaks clear sense on the covid situation, with a kind of commanding authority that I absolutely love to see in women. But the more I read about her background, the more impressed I am. The youngest ever Rhodes scholar, spoke five languages by the age of 18, had also co-authored a book on Indian mythology Grin Then turned down Harvard law scholarship to go into public health.

One of the few benefits of this crisis is that it’s given women researchers like her a new public prominence. Well, for me at least.

Cue my own career anxieties about untapped potential...must do something radical with my life!

But it that’s the kick up the backside I need, it must a good thing.

Totally agree OP, saw her speak on BBC last week and I was so impressed. Very clear thinking.

She is my discovery from the pandemic. She is concise and very clear with her point of view and raised concerns that something like this could happen a little while ago. Someone for young people to aspire to.

Follow everything she says on covid! Wish she had been leading sage.
