Me and OH have fell in love with a new build property to rent.

But the one we reserved was already gone which was ready to move in for august as they are not built yet.

However as it had already gone we have now been told the next batch of them houses aren't ready to move into late September early October.

The other new build that is available early august is slightly different not as nice but still has everything we wanted in a home. As this is the last place we will stay before we buy.

DS is due to start preschool in September so I can not wait until October for him to start as it's a different area I wanted to be moved into the new area and settled ready for him to start his pre school.

OH doesn't want to settle for the basic house as he liked all the quirky features in the other property.

But i just think it has everything else we wanted it's a lovely area just take it and get DS settled in and ready for preschool. I understand what he's saying but I just don't like the thought of DS starting preschool late he's already been off since March.

AIBU? What does everyone else think?

Is the property a long way from where you are now?

Would it be possible to secure a tenancy for the one you would prefer, and speak to the pre school so your child can start attending at the beginning of term anyway.

@Twigletfairy it is an hour away I did suggest it to OH but he thinks it's to much driving up and down.

Is preschool 5 days a week?

An hour each way would be an awful lot. That would be 4 hours travel for you a day.

Not sure, I think it is supposed to be. But again if you spoke to the pre school and explained they may be able to have some flexibility.

In that situation I would probably start pre school a little late, although I can see why you would be hesitant

Keep in touch with the sales people- lots of reserved house sales will be falling through as people loose their jobs.

I'd move into the one available...it is only temporary after all

I'd put a lot of thought into buying. But renting? Nope.

Plus why stay an hour away from a school if renting? Renting is meant to be more flexible.

If you are renting you get the cheaper property. Renting means paying someone else's mortgage. Save the treats for your own house.

They are only £20 difference the thing is we probably won't buy for another two years so we just want it to be suitable.

No the nursery is round the corner from the new house I suggested to OH we drive DS an hour to his new nursery while we wait for the house to be built.

Think we may just wait anyway if we have to drive DS for 2 weeks 3 days a week then so be it.

Sorry, I think that's daft and really unfair on your 3 (?) year old. Far too much time in the car.

It's only pre-school. Either start one in your current location and them move as and when, or just wait to start.

I'd just wait, get the house you want, and DS can start pre-school after you move. It really, really, really won't be a problem for him.

It just start preschool a month late. It won't make a big difference to your dc.

It's preschool not university.
Just delay the start.
That if course is assuming that come Sept they take in the full cohort as this is looking increasingly unlikely.

Id be nervous about the house being built on time......i may be wrong but ive never knows it achieved on time.
What kind of differences are we talking about here between the properties??

Dh is a builder. New builds are rarely finished within the deadline advertised. Or if they are there's usually be shortcuts taken which cause issues for months.

Yes I know hence why I said October as they said move in mid September.
