To book a UK holiday in August?

I can't decide. I want something to look forward to, and we've already paid (cottage in May cancelled). We'd be happy with the beach and walks and just being somewhere different, really. Is anyone else planning on going?

I’m not going to this year, hopefully go abroad next year

I’m going to Norfolk in august. Forest holidays. It’s definitely happening

We have written off this summer. Feel using different shops, petrol stations etc is an unnecessary risk.

I'm considering this too. We have 2 weeks off work in August. Weren't going away as we were going abroad for a week in May which obviously didn't happen. Just want to book a cottage near a quiet beach so we can be somewhere a bit different but can't decide what to do.

Scot, it would be Norfolk too. We know the area well and would be quite happy just pottering around, we tend not to do much anyway other than National Trust places.

As long as you are prepared for the shit weather we usually have in August!

We've booked a Forest Holiday too. They have really detailed guidance on how they are combating the spread of Covid and the lodge we are going to is very secluded. Easy to socially distance if out walking or cycling. We'll do all our shopping at our local supermarket before we go. I cannot wait.

We have just cancelled ours for first week of August lost deposit seeing if I could get anything back

We like going to places such as museums etc and NT which isn't available. I have gorgeous walks at home so no point going somewhere just to walk

We’re booking a camping trip in July! Only a night though. And looking to book one week in august.
Honestly I need a change of scenery to look forward to.

We booked a week at a holiday park in Cornwall for first week of August, back in January. We haven’t cancelled and nor have the holiday park. We’re hoping it goes ahead but fully prepared for it not to.

I’ve just booked a hotel for a couple of nights, It was a TravelZoo voucher and lets us cancel if we don’t want to go ( 2weeks notice).
Hotel is booked up from the last two weeks of August with coach holidays (yes, it’s a cheap deal) so I think they are hopeful.

Honestly, at this point I don't think I'd care if we had to stay in the house the whole week, at least it would be a different house!

We're about to (late July) as don't want to go abroad now with uncertainty about quarantine on return. Found somewhere nice and secluded near the coast. Even if pubs, attractions etc not open we'll still have a nice time as lots of natural stuff to do. Worst case, it's refundable if cancelled due to Covid. Really need something to look forward to now!

I can't be arsed spending money on a holiday while social distancing is still sucking the joy & spontaneity out of every waking moment TBH.

We have written off summer too. Fingers crossed it will be safe to holiday next year.

We have booked 10 nights camping in August, only ever camped for 1 night before, if it’s cancelled it’s not a lot of money to lose, it’s a very basic back to basics campsite. Preparing for rain but I don’t care, we need a change of scenery.

I'm hoping we can still go to Cornwall.

We moved our cancelled holiday from April to September. I don't even care if it rains every single day. We are going to Butlins (don't judge) as we were doing one of the toddler week things for her birthday. We were also supposed to go away elsewhere for my 30th, but that too is cancelled.

I would be quite happy to spend the days watching shitty toddler entertainment, just to give my daughter a good time and a change of scenery. She broke her leg a little while ago so has had a bit of a rough time.

I'm not overly hopeful that we will be able to go though.

We had to pay off the balance a few weeks ago and we phoned up and they said they were opening at end of May. So we paid it. Can’t wait. Never been before but it’s what we need.

We’ve booked a week in Norfolk, we thought it was worth the punt. If you wait until they say it is ok nowhere will be left....

I've got a week in Norfolk booked already, am hoping it will go ahead, biggest issue will be mixing households as there are 10 of us going from 6 different households 🤔🙏

i was looking at caravans / lodges for september and they're taking bookings so assume that means they're hoping to reopen. I think i'll wait before booking something though. I'd be happy with just a change of scenery and some nice walks even if i don't go far.
