AIBU?

To be worried about my baby being too chilled?

Not wanting to jinx anything, but we have a two week old newborn who is literally what I believe to be an absolutely chilled baby.

She hardly cries, breastfeeds extremely well, healthy and well, no real wind issues, and she's just lovely.

But I'm so happy and content with her that I'm now absolutely terrified something bad will happen to take this all away. I had quite a number of miscarriages before she arrived so have done the hard slog to get to where we are, and now its lovely, and I'm so so scared something is lurking around the corner.

Is this a common fear? AIBU to be scared? Pic for cuteness

To be worried about my baby being too chilled?

She's beautiful.

I had similar, I had a miscarriage then a beautiful girl who was just dreamy!! I loved her newborn days, she fed beautifully and was just a delight. At 2 years old she still is.
I don't necessarily think that I've been lucky to get an easy one but I think the heartbreak of the miscarriage has meant that I've overlooked some of the events that others might have found challenging.

I'm just so grateful to have her!

Enjoy. My first was like this. Some babies just are. She was a lovely easygoing placid child too, and is now a sensible young adult. Does happen. Congratulations x

This sounds like mine. He was an absolute dream - slept through the night from the first month, never found a food he didn't like, breastmilk from the boob or expressed (from the fridge or warm), like baths and swimming, never cried etc.
I only have the one at the moment but I've heard rumours that it means that baby number two will be pure evil.

I had one like this then boom, colic.

All mine were chilled out to be fair.

She’s beautiful op, congratulations!

Perfectly normal to worry but some babies are just chilled so I would enjoy it! My first was like this now he’s 3 and he’s still like it, I truly believe their characters don’t change that much. My second on the other hand...Grin

Congratulations and sorry about the miscarriages. I feel similar. My daughter is 3 months old and she’s a dream! Breastfeeding has been super easy, when she’s cries it’s only for a few minutes and she started sleeping through at 8 weeks old. She’s our first baby and we feel so blessed!

Both of my children were calm, lovely babies and stayed that way. They hardly ever cried. They are in their 20's now and delightful people. Some babies are just really easy. After two easy babies I wouldn't try for a third because I didn't want to press my luck!

All three of my girls were chilled babies. They turned into demon toddlers, fun but anything but easy. Enjoy it while it lasts.

@loveacupoftea18 maybe that's what it is, having had the issues we had has caused me to overlook any challenges. I'm honestly so happy and grateful just to have her, count our blessings everyday. Xx

My awful back to back laboured baby (expected dsis for dd) was a ds!
What a shocker - but not a disappointment..
He slept all night from a few weeks old - I joked it was my compensation for the awful birth and ds shock! At 16 he is still a chilled boy!!
Enjoy your squishy baby op!!
Congratulations!

Enjoy it. I went into shock after my chilled 1st baby when my 2nd was born crying he cried constantly for 2 years.

My second baby was just like that. She's one now and is fiercely Independent and makes her likes and dislikes known! I also worried as she was so different to my first but eventually made myself relax.

Ah I had this with my lo. I'd had multiple losses and was incredibly anxious during my pregnancy. When I held him in my arms I felt like the weight of the world had lifted and just felt so grateful and enjoyed every moment. My lo was a very contented baby too and the hard bits didn't seem that hard in comparison to all the heartache that come before him. I know it feels like it's all too good to to be true, but try not to worry and just enjoy this special time. Congratulations Smile

Our dd3 was like this. An absolute little baby pleasure. As she grew she would sit in her pram and beam at the world, especially elderly people. Took me hours to get round the supermarket. But an absolute delight.

Both of my babies were chilled. They are wild children now so I wouldn’t worry 🤣

I felt like this OP. My baby was so chilled and easy. I had PND and was terrified that something would happen that would ruin everything, almost like I couldnt be so lucky. I was a worried mess up to about 16 weeks.

Something did ruin it all. She turned 1 hahaha. Now she is an 18 month old drama queen who knows how to throw a strop. But, she still sleeps through the night (she did this at 11 weeks), eats everything, is perfectly happy to sit and chill and have a cuddle, and is super super cute. Enjoy your time. Its precious. Nothing will ruin it (soon anyway lol).

What a beautiful baby. I had a missed miscarriage before my daughter and it took years of trying before I became pregnant. I too felt I had an easy baby, she was so chilled and content, I used to have to wake her to feed her by 5 weeks.

I agree with a PP I think that my heartache and loss meant I was so in awe of her that I was blind to a lot of the hard stuff.

She's still my best girl, and an utter dream of a daughter six years on.

Congratulations and enjoy your snuggles

I had one of these. He would go over a week without crying. I'd forget he was even in the room.

The two others had colic and didn't stop crying for 3 months.

My son was exactly like this. Took to breastfeeding instantly and no problems (breast fed one child with difficulty and one never managed to breastfeed) Screamed blue murder when he was first born after very difficult birth and then hardly a peep out of him until teething with back teeth. Health visitors wanted to make sure I didn’t enjoy my lovely baby by saying he was probably underfed and weak/may have learning difficulties etc. He was just very chilled out and I was in tune with his little gargles that meant he needed fed. He is now late teens and still chilled out lovely lad. 3 children and apart from all being good sleepers early on (phew) they have all been different little characters from birth.

Congratulations she is beautiful and clearly much loved.

I think it's a common fear that something will happen/go wrong. It's partly an instinct, the need to protect is very strong. (It's not a problem unless it becomes obsessional or intrusive, and if this happens then you must speak your health visitor or GP.)

I think you're just one of the lucky ones OP and for that I am happy for you, truly. A little chilled baby is a delight, and after your precious heartbreak it is well deserved. Enjoy getting to know your baby and may she always be a chilled out little dude!

Aw shes gorgeous! I had a dream baby like this, everyone was jealous, slept thru from 6 weeks (tbf, he still does sleep fab), eat anything, never cried, would go to anyone, do anything, happy all the time. My first 2 years of motherhood (after a very long wait) were a complete pleasure. Enjoy it.....cos hes now a VERY hard work toddler lol!!

My second was a banshee, so enjoy it!!!

DS1 was like that. Easy peasy pregnancy and birth, born chilled, only cried when needed something, stopped immediately once sorted, breastfed easily, slept through almost immediately.

He is almost 16 now. Still chilled. Nothing ruffles that kid, he just slides through life happy and relaxed.

I used to think I was an excellent parent and would wonder what all the fuss was about. And then, I had DS2!
