Lockdown eating has taken its toll and I am 3st heavier than I would like to be.

I have seen an advert for Noom on Facebook. Has anyone heard of it and is it any good?

I tried the free trial but it really got on my nerves with loads of made up words and really over-the-top praise for things like weighing myself. I didn't continue past the trial because it would have been very expensive and it was already doing my head in! I'd read loads of great reviews but it just wasn't for me.

I went fof the free trial and then got rid of it. I didn't even make it through a day.
Gimmicky and crap.
Same as every other weight loss system.

I've heard of it, but I've heard some really mixed feedback.

I use MyFitnessPal - there is a free version, but I prefer the paid for one as it allows you to do some extra things. I'd recommend getting the free one and seeing how you get on - you might find it's enough for you.

I'd invest in a digital food scale if you don't already have one!

I looked at it and decided it was about 100 times too expensive

Looked at it. Seemed very American and nothing better than other calorie counters.

I'm using NutraCheck which is the best I've had out of MFP and LoseIt.

I did the free trial then cancelled it, I liked the calorie counter, felt it was better than MFP with more stuff in it but all the crap to read every day with wanky questions was daft. Its a simple premise - eat more lettuce and put the chocolate down!

If you try the trial and are tempted to pay for it I'd recommend cancelling and wait a couple days, I had an email offering me a reasonable percentage off it to rejoin.

Didn’t work for me but nothing really does. I introduced a friend to it and by the time the free trial was up she’d reached her goal weight. She is very disciplined though.

I signed up for it and deleted it when I discovered how it worked. Not worth the money.

Signed up. Used the free trial. Too American. Crap support. Didn't have a lot of UK foods on it. Waste of time in my opinion

It's like anything, stick to counting calories and it will work. If this is the new shiny thing that could help you go for it.

Some of the motivational stuff was okay but got repetitive after a while. The group aspect is rubbish - you get the same 3 or 4 people in your grp blabbing on all the time, lots of Americans which means you get to read a lot about god and prayers being answered etc.
The coaching aspect is just some bored American teen on the other end who jumps up now and again with rah rah messages and pre-written answers to stuff. They're allegedly trained nutritionists but I don't believe that for a second, or perhaps they just don't have the time to interact - it's very formulaic and I get the impression that they're looking after loads of customers.Probably the poorest bit of the whole thing.

I also disagree with weighing in everyday - I don't think that's healthy.
It is American so there's a time delay on messaging/answers etc. if you interact with it.

Logging food etc is okay, it's pretty accurate despite being American, you can add stuff in grams or just add the calories easily as well as 'cups'.

They need a UK version, with UK language, support and coaching. It could be good...

I tried it and found it far to American, everything was US based and just didn’t really apply to the Uk. I paid out for the ‘tailored diet 0lan and exercise advice’ which was appalling, there was nothing specific just a diet plan which said pick 1 protein, 1 carb etc. and any food suggestions involved specific US ingredients that don’t really exist in the UK (think Graham crackers).

The support is also US based so not great for time zones and is so irritating it puts you off. I really wouldn’t recommend it in the slightest.

I looked it and quickly deemed it far too "Americanised", way overpriced for what you got, and targeted at individuals with more money than sense.

If you really want to "join a scheme", rather than just do it yourself at home, you're better off joining something like Weight Watchers and Slimming World, where you can attend a local group, and get face-to-face support in a more locally-appropriate setting, at a much better cost.

Can't recommend. I usually hate those sorts of things. However I joined because I thought there would be personalised support from a real human and thought it might just work. Turns out it was just a bot with stock answers. Maybe I was naive. Still makes me angry when I think about the questions I asked and how I tried to communicate with it before I realised. Also agree with post about wanky questions.

Head over to the weight loss section there are some really helpful categories eg) fasting including intermittent fasting. MFP recommended over and over and I find really useful. Good luck!

Same here. Free trail, they took a load of money.. then I got a refund. Just annoying nonsense.

I did the free trial and thought it was quite good but I just couldn't get into it and cancelled. At that point they offered me 65% off and monthly payments which I think is not fair on those that don't cancel.

It is calorie counting with red amber and green foods. quite easy to find the things you are eating and lots of different options for units. You weigh every day and read motivational messages as well. My mentor didn't come up with anything very amazing and because I didn't stay on I never had a group.

It would be good if you stuck to it but yes quite expensive, time consuming and American.

Crap. Doesn't take into account current exercise so suggests 'walking for 20 mins' erm I regularly run 40 minutes a day. Deleted it

Yeah it's very cheesy and over the top. 'You got this!' kinda shit. Some people like that but it doesn't work for me.

The diet was a bit obvious too. From what I remember, you make swaps from junk food to stuff that'll fill you up for longer. So instead of 200 calories of sweets, you eat a bunch of grapes. And you eat stuff with a lot of water in it to fill you up. I mean, who knew that putting down the biscuits and eating carrot sticks would help me lose weight?
