AIBU to ask for advice about a fallen fledgling?

A fledgling crow fell down my chimney and into the house. I managed to wrap it in a towel and leave it in the garden. It's been clever enough to find it's way into my shed where I've left a towel for warmth.

RSPCA says to leave fledglings as the mother can still feed it out of their nest. It's breaking my heart as my garden is full of crows looking for this chick but they don't seem to trust the shed to go in.

Is there anything I can do to help? Or would I be doing more harm than good?

Not a lot of cats in the neighbourhood but there is a rat problem in the lane behind our garden so that's my biggest concern.

I am quite hormonal anyway but I've sat here close to tears hearing the mothers cries.

i would put it near the door of the shed so it can be seen , birds wont go into a building for fear of getting caught/trapped

Can you move it out of the garage or at least to the door of it ?

It's walking in and out of the shed himself. I've now left the door wide open.

He's currently wandering around the garden and I've seen mum/dad feeding him....as well as chasing other crows away so not sure what that's about? Would the other crows hurt him?

Obviously I have no idea if it's a male or female but I have now named him Bob. Me and DS have set up shop in front of the patio windows and we're learning about crows together.

It's a normal part of the fledging for some birds.

Blackbird chicks hop about in the undergrowth for a few days before totally leaving.

At least you haven't got cats to worry about. Hoping for a happy ending for Bob.

I wouldn't be so concerned if I had a grassy garden but it's all paved. So he's hopping out in the open.

I've seen mamma bird feeding him at least four times so I'm hoping he will make it. He's hopped up on the recycling bin and ruffled his feathers so fingers crossed he will be flying soon.

Bob survived the night and I am considering renaming him Kevin....he's strutting round the garden nagging his mum for food.

Mamma bird is regularly feeding him and Bob has even been stretching his wings!

Ah that's nice! Muuuum! He's definitely a teenager. Almost but not quite ready for independence. Getting into trouble messing about in the nest...
I wonder if he has siblings still in the nest?
