To ask how you find new hobbies?

Before lockdown, I spent a lot of my free time at the gym, going out dancing and generally socialising.

Since lockdown, I’ve juggled childcare and working. I don’t have DS this week and I’ve taken today off - and I literally don’t know what to do with myself. Weather is terrible. How do I find a new hobby? How did you come across your interests?

Thinking "oooh that looks fun" and having a go.

I do a lot of crafty stuff which runs in the DNA I think.

I don’t think I’m necessarily crafty but it would be nice to have something engaging to do with my hands so I’m not picking up my phone all the time.

I’ve considered this week macrame and basket weaving but I wouldn’t even know where to start. I feel like I need to go to a class to get started.

There's lots of YouTube tutorials for all things crafty which might help you to get started.

Yes, I just give it a go.

For craft or cooking/baking, I'd start with a kit. Stitch and story do nice knitting ones, Toft do crochet animal kits, John Lewis have a decent selection. I'd order something you fancy and give it a go. I'm an advanced crocheter now so I choose my own yarn/hook)pattern but for things I'm new to I buy a kit and see if I enjoy it.

Embroidery, cross stich, crochet, knitting, painting by numbers, fimo, nail art, writing short stories, indo boards.

There are loads of things to do without leaving the house and you can buy starter kits for a lot of them.

I started crochet a few months back. I’m obsessed. Taught myself from YouTube and Facebook.

I’ve considered this week macrame and basket weaving but I wouldn’t even know where to start. I picked up crochet on my own (from a book). Now I just do crochet lace because it's easy to carry, and easy to find a home for.
