Mid 30s at the moment, just wondering how others feel about being in their mid 30s and what sort of things they would like to achieve before reaching the big 40?!

I’d like to get promoted at work and finally get my eating/exercise under control and lose my baby weight. I’ve just had a baby and I really don’t want to be the fat frumpy mum at the school gates. I’m also mid-30s so I’ve got a bit of time!

I am in the process of losing some weight and I want to improve my fitness. Also want to move to a nicer area. Otherwise I am extremely happy as I am. Am 31 and just enjoying family life, my 20s were crazy busy so am determined that my 30s will be more relaxed :)

I’d like to start regular excercise again (3 and 1 year old mean I haven’t had much me time for a few years) and establish myself more at work. Oh and finally get renovations to our house done so we have a lovely home space not the falling apart/shabby home we have now. Generally looking forward to 40s though. Hoping they’ll be less hectic than my 30s! (2 babies, full on job, 2 international moves plus move within UK so far!)

Lose weight, get my spending under control and do a bit more travelling

Get back to a size 8 but toned not skinny.
Pay off mortgage (never left starter home).
Travel well.
Make some new child free friends. I love my friends but they are increasingly consumed by family life and we had kids at completely different ages so are at different stages of "freedom".

Ooh I'm 31 so 9 year plan would be;

  • learn Spanish (started level 2 pt course which cancelled early due to covid)
  • move house (sale agreed but postponed due to covid)
  • have 2nd baby within 18 months and then (slowly) concentrate on getting my body/fitness back
  • buy another buy to let property to rent out

@C1239 what's your goals?

Go to a pub
See family
Send the DCs to school
Run a race
Go to a beach

I doubt I'll have opportunity to go abroad before then, but a UK break would be nice.

Can you tell my 40th is in the not so distant future? Grin

I decided that I would do the obligatory marathon at 40 not 39 which is just as well as marathon season was pretty much cancelled this year. I'd want to be confident that such events are viable before commiting to the training and other costs.

Get fit and do a lot more travelling. Go back to work full time, I've been PT while DS is young. I'm turning 30 soon so plenty of time.

Swim in an open water event
Learn to play the piano
Learn Italian

40 is a date not a deadline, it's great to have goals in life and targets but why not enjoy 40 for all the success you have achieved naturally and let the harder achievements happen in their own time not to your artificially imposed deadline.

But, before 60:

  • compete in my first bodybuilding competition

  • do my Maths A-Level

  • get a good fluency level in German

  • sing a duet with my boss on the karaoke one Christmas (I'm not a great singer. Yet)
