AIBU?

Beach or museum?

Settle an argument for me please Mumsnet. If you take children out of the equation, would you rather spend a day at the beach or in a museum? My mother reckons adults rarely choose to go to the beach unless to satisfy their kids. Personally I think that's nonsense - I for one would much rather hit the beach!

YANBU = Beach
YABU = Museum

Which would you choose?

Museum for me. I'm not a beach person.

Depends on the weather

Museum all the way for me! I can do an afternoon on the beach - if I get ten days solid in museums and galleries to balance it out.

i hate crowded beaches so museum would suit best then but if the beach was quiet then def. every time.

If it was a beach weather day, then beach. If it's not a beach weather day, then Museum.

Most of the museum's round my way are full o school kids midweek and families with kids at the weekend so if I were child free I'd take a disposable bbq, sausages and a few classy cans of G&T to the beach with my book.

Museum every time but I guess it depends on how old your kids are.

Does it matter what other people would choose? Doesn't make your choice any less valid...

Beaches are fun for me for about two hours max. A good museum can be all day.

Museum. Beaches are pretty boring to me. I'll walk along one, or if it's hot I might swim for a bit then read a book for a while, then I'm ready to go. I'd never do a beach holiday.

If its hot but not too hot, beach with a book. If its not hot or too hot, museum with a coffee shop

I'm happy on a Beach for an hour or two, then get bored. I'll need watersports or other activities.

Museums I could wander around all day.

Museum or anywhere that isn’t the beach. I do t get beaches. Sitting uncomfortably, nothing to do, no shade (usually).

With no kids around, I don't think I'd enjoy the beach as much. I love the sea, but like splashing around and swimming with the kids and having DH look after all the valuables

If it's just me and DH, we love traipsing round museums.

I love a walk along a beach, or to sit & have a pint at a beach bar.

I'd only ever choose the beach if it was stonking hot with lots of clear skies and sunshine, no one near me to annoy me and refreshments available (either getting them myself or via a table service, not fussed)

So yeah would pick the museum the vast majority of times.

Museum, then an early evening stroll on the beach.

Museum every time.

I like to stroll along a beach but I’d never contemplate sitting or lying , cheek by jowl, with thousands of others , baking in the heat and suffering the noise for hours. Utterly boring.

Beach for an hour or so, not all day. Same with a museum. I get bored with both after an hour.

Museums are great.

Beach is nice once in a while but sand is such a pain the arse hopefully not literally.

Much prefer a leafy, sunny tree filled park to the beach.

Beaches are nice but boring after the walk and maybe a short time reading so museum for me.)If you switch beach for forest and River with the dog though that's different.

Beach for a lovely long coastal walk, but it would depend on weather and crowds...
