I admit I love threads like this so thought I would start one. Its a long post and I don't expect any replies I am just prattling because I have had to take strong painkillers. I saw an old YouTube video of a man going to the camelot office to collect 8.5 million. Nothing was said about what he was going to buy.
If I won a lot, millions I would design a house for myself and husband and daughter. I have Rheumatoid arthritis and the one treatment that works without side effects is hydrotherapy but I haven't been able to get any long term since childhood so I would have a pool.
It would feature a lounge with a surround sound TV, kitchen/dining area. Utility room with sink. Study, small gym just a treadmill and bike, a main bathroom with bath for DH & DD, walk in shower for me double with seating.
Two big bedrooms with ensuite toilet and sink. A third bedroom and lots of storage.
The grounds would have a gazebo, koi carp for DD, greenhouse for DH, water feature resembling a Brook with small wooded area and natural seating that looked like a fallen tree.
Bird boxes and tables, bower, bee friendly flowerbeds and a little picnic table would complete it nicely.
Not that I have thought about it much. 🤣🤣🤣
I don't care about loads of holidays abroad(although I want to see the tulip fields in Amsterdam). I don't care about expensive clothes and jewelery or cars (DH & I don't drive). My only other splash out would be proper medical treatment and a cleaner.

You just described my dream home except I would have a self contained cottage for my DD, a recording studio for partner, a games room for all of us and a craft room for me. I would also adopt a few hounds

Fair enough. I think my elderly cat would say no to hounds. They might be the sweetest hounds there are but she would still be majorly annoyed. 😂

It would have 5 bedrooms, an office, a play room, a kitchen diner, and a lounge, a mini home cinema, a games room with bowling lanes and pool table, a music studio, a home gym, a dance/exercise studio and sauna. I would have a big garden, with climbing frame, swings and slide for the kids, as well as a trampoline, and a pool house with pool with Jacuzzi next to it, and enough space to have sleepovers for my kids when they are teens or to have friends or family stay a few. I nights. I would get a dog, a cat, a Tortoise, rabbits, 2 Geckos and a massive fish tank filled with exotic fish.

I have no interest in flashy cars or horses or designer clothes or anything, and I wouldn't do much travelling if I won since covid 19 it's put me off. But I would have an amazing house, and get everything delivered, and otherwise spend my money learning the things I want to learn and for my kids to do the same.

I would never ever get behind the wheel of a car again and get a driver Grin

A library. It would have to have a library. Definitely a hot tub in the garden and lots of bathrooms.

When I'm trying to get to sleep , I try to plan my Lottery Winners House (LWH) but I never get beyond the kitchen. Grin

Kitchen would be white (I'm not cleaning it so I don't mind)

One wall will be shelves behind tall doors with lights that come on. All my appliances, cookware, kitchen things I want but think where would I put them
Pull out unit for my Kitchen Aid and Food Processor

Glass front cupboards for glassware and plates.
Orangrey through French Doors

Laundry Room with door leading to a private but very breezy courtyard for my washing twirly

The hugest washing machine (like the Laundrette ones) for big loads and a hugely high spec normal one , loads of programes
Huge and regular tumble drier
One of those Drying cupboards
Commercial iron.

I quite like doing washing (weird) I'd have all types of detergent and fabric conditioner

Walk in pantry , all organised

Two bedrooms -Winter all red/green, Summer all white, floral. Sleigh bed and white iron.
A dressing room and bathroom in between these two.

I fall asleep before I get to other bedrooms Grin

Sean Pertwee as my Personal Driver and BodyGuard (sorry Mrs Pertwee you've had him long enough ) Wink

🤔 I think I would add a spa pool next to my swimming pool. Just big enough for two. I can't use a sauna or steamroom they can set off a flare up but I would need a spa pool. 😁
Now to just win it.

A fairly small detached home with a decent size garden. Somewhere quiet, not new build. To know that, that's mine and be secure that I'll never be homeless....bliss!

2bed semi. With a medium back garden, with patio and hot tub. Drive at the front. Quiet area. Nothing too big keep clean. Be nice to have a garage for a treadmill etc. I’d then buy the 3 bed semi next to me and put my best friend and her 2 kids in there so I would know I have decent neighbours.

Although I actually love my studio flat. And I am very grateful for what I have.

I day dream about this all the time Grin

My lottery win house is currently up for sale but clearly way over my budget. It needs a complete overhaul. Old stone built detached in gorgeous area very close to city Center with so many nice shops and cafes and open spaces nearby. It’s useful to have a floor plan as I redesign it on a daily basis.

Clearly with a lottery win I wouldn’t be working so I’d spend my mornings doing yoga in my gorgeous “wild” garden then set myself up drinking pots of tea and writing my best-seller book in the morning sun in the orangerie (it will always be sunny so will also have some subtle AC so it doesn’t get too hot in there). Then take my cute and well behaved doggy (possibly a Lhasa apso) to meet some friends in a local cafe for a spot of lunch and a glass of wine.

Somewhere quiet with a lovely garden and nice neighbours (I'm assuming we can buy nice neighbours).

Nothing big or fancy so its maintainable and able to manage in old age!

I will have a 5 bedroom detached house with lots of land. It will have a kitchen with an island and those orangery-type windows in the roof. I will have a butler sink and a range cooker too. There would be big doors that opened out onto the veranda!

We would have a playroom, office, and library. We would also have a basement pool, sauna and hot tub plus and outdoor heated pool (and hot tub why not!).

We would also have a covered outdoor area with a fire pit and probably a pizza oven.

Not strictly house but we would have a little Nissan Figaro for weekend jaunts.

A detached house with land so I can blast my music without annoying anyone.

Also a home gym and swimming pool.
A library/office room
A utility cupboard
A bigger lounge with surround sound
A sweeping staircase

I'd like it to be smart e.g. just say turn on kettle etc.

And I'd pay someone to remove spiders from the house Grin

As I currently live in a tower block with a motorway near by that has a constant hum of traffic I’d have a big detached house in the middle of no where with no noisy neighbours.

Wether it’s modern or country style I don’t mind but a log burner is a definite in the lounge. A huge kitchen with tonnes of storage and worktop space as I love to cook would be my biggest want, after that a swimming pool. Maybe as I’ve won the lottery an indoor pool one with big sliding doors to open it up in the summer with plenty of outdoor seating and sunbathing opportunities. The garden doesn’t have to be huge as long as it’s private, a sea view would be nice.

I'm afraid to say like a footballers house. Massive, modern, glossy, with a huge garden!

An ancient house, maybe 3 cottages knocked into one, with its own ghosts. And a ready made kitchen garden.

I'd have a Georgian or Victorian former rectory in the West Country, with sea views and a walled garden (inside more extensive grounds).

Obviously I would need to win enough to pay for the cleaner and gardener too.

Honestly.... I’d want the house not far from me that’s up for sale for £250,000.

It’s 4 bedroom and ticks every box I’d need as I’d not want to leave this area and I’d not want anything that attracted too much attention or security issues.

It’s my dream house but sadly out of reach for me unless I got a small lotto win. Even with a big one I’d still buy the same house.

I would need a fishing lake, about 3 acres would do. My wife would decide on the house!

I would buy a cottage next to the sea. It would have a pool.

I'd put half of the money into trust for the dc.

I would go on a big 3 week holiday with my family.
