Bottom tray first, otherwise any spill over water from the top tray ‘contaminates’ the bottom.

Bottom rack first. This keeps any stray water from dripping down onto the plates in the lower rack when the upper rack items are removed.

YANBU.

Bottom first and I then load the bottom before moving on to the top tray - maximum efficiency for a hated task!

Cutlery basket > plates > bowls and side plates > any plastic/cookware > glasses > mugs.

Bottom tray first because of water on top of the cups / glasses on the top tray .

I do top then bottom. I don't care how anyone else does it as long as it is emptied.

I do top first. I think you may find it's six of one and half a dozen of the other... so just agree to disagree and go and find something more fun to talk about!

I do top tray first but I don’t pull the bottom tray out until I’ve finished it.

Bottom tray first , but actually whatever we need, bottom tray, top tray, cutlery...

Oh dear God don't let my husband know there is a correct way to empty... I have enough issues being told there is a correct way to pack it!!

Couldn't give a damn so long as it involves putting everything in the cupboard it belongs and not leaving it on the bloody countertop!

I do which ever I pull out first! I use a tea towel to catch stray water.

Bottom first otherwise any water or spillages from the top rack will just get most your dry dishes at the bottom wet so you’ll need to dry them when you didn’t have to in the first place. My DH is the same as yours, always does the top first. I always say ‘work smarter, not harder’ haha.

Bottom first, in case of top leaks

Bottom first to avoid water from the top dripping on it.

Cutlery basket first (if there is one) then bottom shelf, then top shelf.

Anyone who says otherwise is officially nuts.

And I have drilled this into my children.

It's the loading we have issues with - I fill it so there's enough space between the items for the water to get in and clean then, dh looks like he's packing a suitcase and most things come out still a bit gross. But at least he's done it.

It took a few years for him to believe me (also factual science) that hanging clothes after a couple of shakes to increase surface area rather than just emptying the washing basket over the top of the airer and walking off, makes clothes dry 1) quicker and 2) not all crumpled up!

Definitely bottom first.

Wtf? There's a right way and a wrong way?!?!?!
I had no idea Grin

It doesn't matter. I normally do top first just because it's close to me. But really there isn't a right way. So might grab bits out of the bottom if it made sense to where things went on the cupboards.

Report
curtainsforme · 01/06/2020 19:55

I just do whatever. I don't have a system. Sometimes I grab the cutlery thing first, next time I might pull the bottom rack and do that then cutlery, next time I might pull the top rack first.
