AIBU?

How early is too early to let kids play in the garden?

I normally let them out to play after lunch 1-2pm. Today they went out to play for a bit at 9.30am after breakfast . They're normally a bit loud especially on the trampoline. I had to shhh them a few times 🙈 I'm normally paranoid over these things, don't want to be a nuisance to my neighbours Blush

After 9.30 is fine imo. I wouldn’t let them before 9, but after that I think it’s fair game.

Mine were out just after 9.

You’re fine. I thought you were going to say they were out at 7am or something!

I think that's absolutely fine.

I'd be fine with that, but I'd be a bit touchy after 6:30-7ish if shouting loudly as this is often bedtime for younger children (my toddler!) Obviously that's a biased view though.

I’d consider anything after 8:30 to be perfectly fine. Nine on a weekend maybe. I’m not a morning person at all but I would expect everyone else to be silent when they’re up for my benefit.

After 9am is fine, maybe 10am on sundays.

I’m sensitive to noise but 9.30 is fine.

After 8.30 is fine surely?

It’s a week day so 9.30 is fine.

I’d say after 8.30 is fine- 8am if not a trampoline

Anything after 8.30am is ok on a weekday I would say, but if you know some of your neighbours are working from home it would be kind to limit the noise, or at least limit the time they're making it. It would be bloody grim to have to work with the windows shut today.

9.30 is reasonable, my arsehole neighbours had their whingy toddler out before 7 the other day and it was too hot to shut the windows!

But in a small garden
8:30 is perfectly civilised

That’s really considerate and lovely of you! I really wish you were my neighbour. I think 9:30 is fine.

My neighbours used to let their kids out BEFORE 7am on weekends! We didn’t have any kids then so would really annoy me that I work all week then on weekends don’t get a lie in. Even now I can hear them early in morning kicking bloody football around which often get kicked against our fence and the parents make no effort shushing them! Sorry went off there Blush in response I think it’s fine!

Usually I’d say 9 ish. But the amount of garden noise going on here at the moment at midnight midweek I’d be happy for 7 am

I think after 8.00 is fine, but I'm one of nature's larks. Although bin men, delivery lorries etc are around making a racket at that time anyway.

Later at weekends would be considerate though.

I don’t tend to allow mine outside until after 10.

Oh, never, never, children should be hidden inside in absolute silence at all times lest some poor sensitive adult has to hear them playing, it might ruin that adult's day and that would be a travesty.

10am at the earliest, and not for more than an hour per day

Lol

was too hot to shut the windows!

Exactly. This was my fear, everyone have their windows and back doors open, and I was just worried to let them out this early in case anyone was sleeping. I've also started sleeping with my windows open Blush

I’d say after 9 am but not with shrieking. Considering most people work 9-5 I think that that is most reasonable.

8 am or before seems too early to me, let people have a cuppa and wake up naturally a bit first.
