Why I’m taking the C19 risk seriously- kept to lockdown rules, mindfully socially distancing etc - but despite knowing that the risk factor of getting it seriously increases with weight not only am I still obese, I’ve packed on a couple of stone on furlough too. Why can’t I seem to go oh, I won’t have all that food because even though it’s nice it’s not heal thy y in the same way as I went oh, I won’t go to the beach for my walk when it was shut (live by it fwiw) even though I used to twice a day??confused

Aww it sounds like lockdown depression causing you to gain weight. Sorry I dont have any helpful advice xx

For me the effects of obesity seemed a long way off and I'd have 'got my act together' by then. You know the whole 'I'm starting a diet on Monday thing. But this was here and now and I might not see another year, so I'm losing weight and exercising because this seems to be as much a vascular virus as a lung one.

We are very good at ignoring what suits us and finding something else to focus on.

Same her so you have my sympathy. It's just so boring I find myself snacking all the time especially when working from home.

This could have been written by me. The moment I heard obesity was a risk factor I told myself I needed to start addressing my weight. Here I am 2 months later even heavier and less fit than before.

No advice, I’m afraid. I just wanted to tell you you’re not alone. (And see if anyone posts on here with some helpful advice to kick me up the backside!)

If you want my advice, I'd say eat before you go shopping and then it's easier to resist buying the junky stuff. You only need to resist it in the shops. Once you've done that, the hard work is done until the next time you go shopping. The amount of cake I'd have eaten this lockdown if it were in the house does not bear thinking about!

Buy healthier snacks so you don't feel too deprived- nuts, fruit, yoghurt etc. Don't be too hard on yourself- tomorrow is a new day.
