AIBU?

To want to get away from my family

I've had enough of them. All male household here - bar me.They're all pissing me off. Husband is irritating, kids need me 101% so can't do any fucking work. At all. Husband works from same table as me and it's REALLY irritating. It's become a war of attrition over who gets to go on a call first. Fed up being stuck in this house with them. I wish I could just get away.

Fed up, fed up, fed up. FFS they're a right pain in the arse and so NEEDY, including the husband. Why has he not evolved into a fully independent adult at the tender age of 40?????? Why??

Women need to get out of the home environment for their sanity (and to save their marriages.) It's so claustrophobic otherwise .I'm really missing the interaction with other adults at work. Grrrrrrrr. Does anyone else feel like this??? Surely this is not a healthy situation for people and families longer-term. It's horrible. I'm beginning to resent them all and they probably feel the same way about me.

How old are the kids?

In what way is the husband needy?

My sympathies, by the way!

I know what you mean. No escape from needy, entitled family and they don't get why you are upset. I feel the same. Fantasise daily (hourly) about putting an end to this stifling, claustrophobic misery.

My escape was work and if things got too much on a weekend/holidays when we were all cooped up together I'd go to the shops for a couple of hours.
I'm now not working at all ( left my job due to issues covid-related) and shops are closed.
I've no escape as even to go for a walk means taking the DC with me.
DP has just done the supermarket shop so he's acting like a hero and is now 'resting'Hmm

Yes and I can’t escape as I’m shielding! Occasionally they walk together and the quietness is bliss! Sometimes I think I just need to find a place for a loud scream but they’re always there!

I think we all need a break now and then, especially at the moment where things are so tense. So YANBU for feeling this way Flowers

Could you have a talk with your husband and ask him to run the ship for an afternoon while you relax upstairs and read a book or have a bath with no interruptions? Sounds small but may be helpful (if he’s willing!)

Totally agree - lockdown caused me to reach crisis point a few weeks ago (what with mother being difficult as she has lost control a needy 2 and 6 year old and husband working even longer hours out of home and expecting me to to EVERYTHING)

I now have a therapist and have gone LC with my mother, started the pill to deal with PMD and will leave lock down a better person!

Having said that, have hit a wall today and sad about the missed opportunities. I’ve finally realised this isn’t going away any time soon Sad
