AIBU?

To think Robbie Williams and Take That is just really Take That?

Lighthearted weekend thread, just been hearing on the radio on my way home from work about a concert entitled Robbie Williams & Take That. Why? Now granted I was never their biggest fan the first time around but if my memory serves me correctly he was never the lead singer or the main songwriter and was just in effect a (very) attractive, moderately talented young chap who just got lucky, like most boyband members really. I really don't understand all the fuss around him with this and the x-factor , I know he had a fair few solo hits and some success but he isn't what I'd call a musical legend! Not much of his music has aged that well and if I'm perfectly honest I was getting mighty tired of Angels being trotted out at every 00's wedding, funeral, pub closing time. So AIBU to think he's a pretentious fit now?

Love a bit of Take That. Robbie has a ton of hits that I presume would attract another crowd to boost sales. He will be poncing around the stage thinking he's 20 Grin I'd still go though. if it was free

He's a great Norman Wisdom tribute act.

Probably because Take That have done lots of albums, tours etc. without him? So if it just said Take That, no one would know he was involved.

Because he is no longer part of take that. Just like if Jason was joining them, his name would be added to show he was part of it too.

They can't call it a take that reunited show as there'll still only be 4 out of the 5

RW can't dance around as much these days anyway due to his arthritis iirr

Robbie Williams is an artist in his own right with his own songs so maybe he wants to perform them. I wouldn’t expect to hear Rock DJ at Entertain You at a Take That gig

It will probably be a condition of his agreement. I’m not a big fan, but he’s had a very successful solo career in a way the others haven’t. It’s only to be expected that a portion of the show will be dedicated to him as a solo performer.
