To ask how you would have reacted to lockdown if it had occurred when you were a teen <can be lighthearted>

I would have danced the fandango if my O level exams had been cancelled!
No proms back then but wouldn't have been bothered if the leavers party was cancelled because it wasn't much different to the weekly disco I went to back then (anyone else remember discos?). Last day of school wasn't A Thing.

I wouldn't have been allowed to stay in bed til afternoon because mum would have kicked me out of the house for part of the day. No doubt i would have gone to the phone box to ring my friend Karen and arrange to meet on the bus where we would travel to nowhere and back, pretending we were sisters if anyone asked why we weren't socially distancing.

Back home, mum wouldn't have put up with any moping around - she'd find me jobs to do if I dared say I was bored. I'd watch Brookside or listen to tapes on my cassette recorder or type articles about my miserable existence on my Olivetti typewriter.

How would your lockdown have been?

I'd have been gutted. I was at boarding school and I loved it. Being stuck at home with my family for five months without my friends (best friend lived at the opposite end of the country) would've been hell - both for me and for my family!

Our mum was extremely physically abusive and used to prevent me accessing my insulin, I’d probably be dead if I hadn’t been able to escape.

I would have been happy and sad in equal measure.

Happy that I didn't have to go to school, sleep in till late, and watch daytime TV all day. What a treat!

But sad as I wouldn't be able to see my friends and I'm an only child so I would eventually have got incredibly bored with no one to talk to.

I wouldn't have noticed. I spent most of my teen years at home.

I would have been so happy if my exams had been cancelled, and I would have spent the days writing letters to my friends and having long conversations on the phone (after 6 when it was cheaper and my dad could moan less). My mum would have dragged me out for a walk every day which I would have secretly liked because it was one on one time with her.

Unlike now I probably would have taken up a new skill. One summer when I was bored I taught myself to use my mums ancient Singer and made all these beanbag frogs. That was the same summer I discovered all her Joan Baez vinyl too.

I would have missed school but been glad it was not on at the same time. I would have made grand plans for how to glam myself up for when it reopened, then wouldn't have been able to do any of it because Body Shop would have been closed.

I would have been on phone all the time, talking to friends.
(teen) DD is on video cons with friends all the time.
She is borrowing my bluetooth speaker & sunlounging a lot (I would have).

I'd have been gutted if my exams had been cancelled as I worked so hard. But was very much a homebody so would have been fine just reading all day! We only had the standard 4, then 5 channels, and no internet so I would have literally had only books to read.

Read an awful lot, then reread all my books as I wouldn’t have been able to go to the library. Made mixtapes by recording off the radio and talked about them over the phone (after 6pm as it’s cheaper) with my friends.

I've thought about this before. I would have absolutely loved it! I was a lazy and difficult teen and I hadn't done any work for O Levels but this way I would have come out with ok grades. I would have lazed around every day reading and listening to the radio and having long conversations on the house phone with my friends (no mobil phones then).

Grin my dad used to put a lock on the phone during school holidays!

I might have been a bit teed off about the O levels, because I wanted to beat my big brother's tally (although I would have done that with predicted grades anyway haha), but otherwise I would have been absolutely delighted. I was too cool for school.

Me and my friend were talking about this the other day. We'd have been a nightmare! Would have been on the phone constantly, working out how we could sneak out to get drunk with boys. Don't think not doing exams would have bothered me as long as my predicted grades were ok.

Early teens would probably not have been bothered to much as would have spent it down at the stables with my horse. 6th form years I would have been gutted, no drinking in the park or pub with friends and flirting with boys. Awful.

Lived with my dad and he was never there so I would have gone out and met my mates. I would have given zero fucks about the rules. How times have changed as I haven't broken 1 rule yet!

I wasn't a particularly rebellious or difficult teen, but I'd have broken lockdown weeks ago for a snog and a grope with my teen boyfriend (who is now DP of 13 years.... we reunited in our 20's)

I would have loved it at first- no school!!! But after a few days the realisation of being at home and turned into a cleaning and babysitting slave would of hit and I’d miss school badly- would have been a slim chance I could constantly be playing out on the green too though so 50/50

O levels - would have loved it (horribly bullied at school). Also would have stopped me seeing a 25 year old...
A levels- might have kept me sober and at my books rather than down the pub or at my 'part time' job (18 hours a week). But I would have murdered my parents...

I wouldn't have been allowed to use the phone and would have been expected to work for my parents all day as that is what happened all school holidays (they ran a shop which would have still opened)
