Boris has been very absent since his recovery from CV and could have used his health as a reason to step down and escape the clutches of DC. He must have serious dirt on BJ or DC has been running things to the extent that BJ wouldn't know where to start if DC left with his close allies.

Not at all. Boris very much wants to be PM. He isn't doing it without DC because D.C. is the one who pulls his strings, not the other way round.

I think he doesn't want to do the job without Cummings telling him what to do. It's all got a bit difficult for him, and it's a far cry from the "glorious-brexit" leadership he had in mind when he went for the job. He wanted to be quaffing champagne and chanting "We Took Back Control".

Maybe this cummings nonsense is just the step to BJ standing down - that makes way more sense that testing eyesight weirdness. Yes, it allows BJ to say hes sorry we have lost faith in him and hed like to stand down for the unity of the party and the good of the country at this terrible time, etc etc. That allows him to keep face, DC to stay in there, and someone with more skills and heart to take the leadership. Yes that makes more sense!

He won that election by taking seats in labour areas that hadn’t seen a Conservative MP in generations. That gave Labour their worst result since 1935 and the Conservatives their largest majority in thirty years so who , prey tell, is going to oppose him ?. Is he still recovering , almost certainly but it was only a few weeks ago they were preparing to announce his death !. Ultimately he’s got the job he always wanted. He’s not going give that up. It’s a long way to the next election and Labour have a mountain to climb. That’s why arch remainers like Kier Starmer are suddenly onboard with Brexit. I think he's got the job of his life and had a rude awakening that for the first time in God knows how long, he's supposed to knuckle down and do some actual serious work. Which he's lazy and entitled and spoilt enough to have imagined was beneath him. In fact it's beyond him, which is now being painfully exposed.
