AIBU?

Journalists outside Cummings house hypocrisy

whenthejoyreturns · 25/05/2020 09:42

Anyone just seen the footage BBC news? Getting on for 100 journalists outside Cummings house all squashed together, some half arse attempt at a face mask on a few ( only covering mouth not nose). Have I missed something? Is social distancing over? These are no doubt the same people reporting with exasperation on a lack of social distancing on transport and work places.
AIBU to think these people are hypocrites and need calling out?

Well if the rules don't apply to cummings and Boris why should anyone else bother?

It’s certainly looking like that’s the way it’s going now. Well if that’s the case let’s get all the dc in primary and secondary back to school on June 1st. Might as well.

There is only one hypocrite on that street and he lives there.

We shouldn’t bother. It’s as if this had all been made up.

@1984in2019 I disagree. It’s an absolute joke moaning on at Cummings whilst not following the ‘rules’ themselves.

There is a certain ridiculousness to writing strongly worded articles about how wrong it is not to follow rules while not following the rules yourself.

But yes, let's get everyone back in school and work and crack on then?

I think English people can go back to work now can't they ? So you know the journalists are at work

Report
Mrsjayy · 25/05/2020 10:10

People living in England I should say.

Lostvoiced · 25/05/2020 10:12

If the people in charge wont follow the rules then they cant get pissed off at anybody else for it.

Report
Ginisatonic · 25/05/2020 10:12

Well they are not really acting very wisely but unlike Dominic Cummings they didn’t write the rules.

Report
YangShanPo · 25/05/2020 10:15

It's like the rules don't matter to them. Still they are probably just parents trying to support their family which is the responsible thing to do.

TabbyMumz · 25/05/2020 10:17

They arent social distancing. They are making life hell or anyone that lives there. They shouldn't even know where he lives.

Report
AnneTwacky · 25/05/2020 10:21

Dominic Cummings broke the self isolating rule, not the social distancing/ lockdown rules.

He knew his wife was infected and probably so was he, but brought the virus on a 260 mile road trip to another part of the UK as well as at however many stops they needed to make on the way.

That's a major difference between what the journalists outside his house are doing and his own infraction.

They’re journos and reporters after their pound of flesh for their next pay cheque. They behave like a pack of deranged animals when they smell blood - do you really think they switch on their moral compass when there’s chance of getting a big pay day? It’s the nature of their job.

Report
Mrsjayy · 25/05/2020 10:23

Why wouldn't they know where he lives he lives on a residential street so I don't think it is top secret if you are his neighbour tabbymumz the only person to blame for the disruption is him.

Report
Lockheart · 25/05/2020 10:27

Well no doubt as parents they are doing the best they can by their children to provide for them and are acting legally and with integrity.

If it's good for Cummings...

Nicely done OP. Smile

I agree. Total hypocracy by the journalists. If any of them contract Covid-19 they'll probably blame it on DC too.

So all of you who think it’s ok because they’re probably parents trying to earn a living are we all entitled now to do that?Honestly there’s no argument here to justify their behaviour and any of you who is trying whilst criticising Cummings is also a hypocrite.

@Mrsjayy journalists and broadcasters have been allowed to work throughout. That doesn't mean that they don't need to try and socially distance themselves from one another.

Report
whenthejoyreturns · 25/05/2020 12:03

@Mrsjayy obviously not all English people are back at work. What about hospitality, tourism?

Perhaps they are following their instinct.
Apparently that’s more important than following the rules now.

Report
YangShanPo · 25/05/2020 12:08

I think the PM would understand a parent following their instincts and who are we to disagree with that.

I didnt say "wouldnt", I said "shouldnt". I think its appalling that when anything happens to those in the news, they pop up outside their house. Its harassment.

The whole hype outside Cummings house is disgusting. A hate campaign at its finest.
Families do not deserve that in their street.
Our media are vile.

Report
YangShanPo · 25/05/2020 12:15

I normally hate the paps doorstepping celebs but I think DC deserves it.
