To think the current rainbow trend is NOT erasing LGBT?

Just seen a tiktok video where a lesbian is saying the pride flag belongs to lgbt and that if a child accidently draws a rainbow with 6 colours instead of 7 or someone hangs a pride flag up instead of drawing a curved rainbow then it’s stealing their culture and erasing them.

I’ve only seen one or two pride flags hung up in places where I’m fairly sure they’re signalling nhs support rather than lgbt support. Most of the time it’s actual rainbows. Can’t say I’ve counted the colours to make sure the poor kids have done all 7!

It belongs to God. Or nature, if you're an atheist.

Rainbows only have six colours anyway. Physics doesn't recognize seven.

I knew it would be no time until lgbt jumped on the rainbow thing... utterly stupid, rainbows belong to everyone Smile

Oh for goodness sake - rainbows have been used to symbolise many things over the years, it isn't owned by the LBGT community, nor does it decrease its meaning for that community.

How utterly silly. I don't think 'LBGT' when I see a rainbow 🌈

The rainbow never belonged to LGBT, never will.

The LGBT Community stole it from the leprechauns first.

What, goes around comes around

Isn't the whole point of the rainbow symbol to illustrate an inclusive spectrum of people?

It's not very inclusive if it only represents some people is it....,

I didn’t even know there were 2 types of rainbows with 6 or 7 colours!

I also don’t think LGBT when I see a rainbow unless the context of it suggests LGBT, for example during Pride. 🤷‍♀️

S'not even accurate - since the LGBTQIA rainbow now includes black and brown stripes, as well as a pink, white and baby blue triangle.

Rainbows aren’t owned by anyone, nor are clouds or raindrops. Someone needs to wind their neck in!

Stealing their culture? That simply doesn't compute for me Confused
Surely it's just some terminally dim person shiteing on on the Internet, as they're wont to do?
Why are you taking it seriously?

I don't think it's appropriation if some kid draws a six stripe rainbow and not a proper seven stripe rainbow.

I think maybe big corps who are selling rainbow stuff could put the full seven colours in, because they are big corps with marketing teams and budgets, and because it irrationally bugs me anyway that apparently I was the only kid who was taught the rhyme about 'Richard of York gave battle in vain' as a kid and indigo and violet are not the same and it would be polite.

But I think a lot of people are being pretty OTT about this - I've seen people on here saying kids shouldn't put up rainbows because it's a triggering symbol to GC feminists, and then other people saying it's an appropriation of LGBTQ* symbology etc etc. It shouldn't be this big a deal! It's a rainbow!

When I see a rainbow flag it represents Pride to me, although it has taken on a different meaning currently.

I’m fairly sure the 6 and 7 year old at the end of the street are stealing LGBT culture when they draw rainbows in chalk on the pavements though.

As a lesbian, I do often associate the image with LGB but a rainbows a rainbow! I don’t see a rainbow in the sky and think oooooh gay. Strange thing to complain about

Ah you get nutters on every social media platform. I wouldn't take the opinion of some yoke from TikTok as indicative of anything widespread. I imagine your average LGBT person would be bemused that this is a problem.
