My situation is I live in a resonably large house with a couple who own the house. I rent a room but have use of most of the house and garden.
There is another bedroom in the house which is currently ready for a new housemate to move in. The owner has advertised this room for rent but I understood they would not have anyone move in until after lockdown was lifted. Well, that has now changed as they have found someone they like. This person has not come to the house to view but has done a virtual tour by video on Wattsapp.
I have been informed tonight that this person is moving in on Thursday next week. I am very upset about this as we have all been social distancing and following government guidelines. In the beginning I was furloughed for 3 weeks but I am now working from home. I am also diabetic on insulin and am in the vulnerable category. The house owners are in the over age 60 bracket with asthma and are terrified about getting covid-19. I do not understand why they can not wait a few more weeks to have someone move in and fill there empty room, with whom I have to share a bathroom with.
Surely it's best to wait and follow government guidelines for everyone's health.
I have expressed my unhappiness in this situation and that I am not comfortable with an unknown person moving in even if this person has said they have been social distancing etc since lockdown.
So, what should I do? I can't move out but how do I stop them from moving someone in? AIBU in not wanting a new housemate just yet.
