Are some of the most ignorant people on the planet???!!!

I have just been torn a new bum hole on FB, for adding some perspective to a very angry post on FB. FB post went something like this:

"300+ more fucking dead today. When will these fucking idiots learn that they havd to stay in fucking doors? I had a go at atleast 10 people in Tescos today (she didn't explain why) The longer they are stupid the longer this will go on..... Etc... Etc"

Lots of people went on: "I agree hun" "OMG so totally with you etc"

I went on and screenshotted Prof Sikoras tweet about week on week reductions and to say there is light at the end of the tunnel, chin up etc.

Well.......!!!!! The abuse!!!!!!!!

I'm dancing on people's graves... How can you be excited? I bet you are one of the c*nts going out and seeing family? (I have ONCE at my Nan's funeral) I am disgusting human being. How can I be happy that only 300 odd have died....you get the picture.

Am I wrong to find perspective/relief/optimism that the numbers are going down, or should I be wallowing and consigned to months and months of doom for the foreseeable??

If you're not surviving on eating dust and by licking the moisture off the stones in your garden, then you're literally a murderer.

Misery loves company and social media has allowed martyrdom to become a competition.

You need to ignore them, and stop responding to their posts on FB. Be honest, you kind of knew they'd react that way didn't you?

Some people will always find an excuse to be an arsehole, just leave them to it because they are also the ones who are going to react most strongly to any kind of disagreement with their views.

Love it. I mean, this person was also in Tesco rather than at home. Hypocrites everywhere.

You do know that Prof Sikora is a specialist in oncology, not infectious diseases or respiratory illnesses don't you? Not saying not to look for the positives, but I would read his tweets with this in mind.

The official name for them OP is "dementors"- (check out the dementor thread in active) they enjoy sucking the joy and fun and happiness out of everyone and peacocking their puritanical sacrifices like some kind of misery olympics where they always win gold.

Its pathetic and you really have to just ignore their doom and gloom peddling because they want lockdown to last forever so that everyone can be as miserable and bitter as them. I see their delight when cases rise and the way they practically wet themselves when the R number gets near to 1, all the while pretending that they just care that people are dying. They dont. All they care about is climbing up on their high horse and trying to lord it over everyone else.

Report
Quarantino · 21/05/2020 17:00

Why is everyone so insistent in dividing everyone into two camps? Nearly everyone is upset that unprecedented numbers of deaths have happened, frustrated and probably financially disadvantaged at the practical consequences of lockdown, glad when fewer people are reported dead, and keen for everyone to stick to as many measures as possible to reduce the spread while trying to maintain good mental health.
All at the same time! Imagine!

Just block them. Let the think fuckers pat each other on the back.

@funnelfanjo

Yes I do. Ever since this all kicked off though he is one of the few out there who seem to have a reasonable/calming influence on me.... Him and there is a virologist from Cambridge (his name escapes me at the mo) both instill this sense of "we can do this" in me. The virologist is possibly the most excellent man in TV at the moment. He is to the point, extremely informative, realistic but the just has a way of saying things which give me hope and perspective.

Honestly it’s best not to react to these people op, her original post showed she wasn’t rational so no good was ever going to come from a rational response.

I think some of them are getting off on the drama of it.

Sikora isn’t an epidemiologist or a virologist.

I think you'll find that it works both ways, (I'm not one of those 'screamers' btw, though I think your title is a little over exaggerated).

You've already got people on this thread calling people thick and pathetic. Works both ways.

As well as the Dementors, there are plenty of Boggarts out there too, nasty characters who will strategically pick the most scary argument to terrify people with.

Don't argue with stupid.
Don't feed the trolls.
Defeat the Dementors with something joyful like chocolate.
Remember that the Boggarts are just Ridikulous.

Is there a reason for her rant? I have someone like this on fb but her husband died of covid 19 so I completely understand how angry and upset she gets. I don't rant on fb but I do have an internal rant about some selfish behaviours.

I completely agree, I asked if anyone had used a mobile dog groomers, this was always allowed and 3 people jumped into me, one woman even accusing me of killing her grandchildren. I explained that it was allowed and she should now her facts before she ranted.
This one woman rants on Facebook about people in a local park, that everyone should be at home. Again I explained that this was allowed that people could go to the park, she then told me she had rung 111 numerous times as families should not travel in a car together. Went as far as asking if I had seen anyone die of lung cancer, (I have) she then started to have a go at me for bringing up cancer (I didn't) I then blocked her.
Funnily enough just seen a picture of her sitting in her daughter garden with 35 of her closet friend celebrating a birthday. She was meant to be shielding.
You could not make it up.

It reminds me of The Crucible. This state of mind - zealotry, enforcement, paranoia- is what got the Salem Witch Trials off the ground. It is frightening. Unfollow/ block this Tesco harridan, OP!

OP, your one mistake was posting in the first place.

Some people have been scared into compliance with the "rules", it will be extremely difficult to reason them back into sensible, common sense positions.

Similarly, some people have been utterly untouched by the requests/rules/emotional blackmail and are also extremely difficult to reason with to get them to take sensible precautions.

If you don't want the drama, just block, ignore and scroll down.
