If by Westminster you mean London, that's the last place they're thinking of. And you know it.

Or do you mean Westminster as in the houses of parliament? Which is mostly comprised of people who don't live permanently in London. Hence perhaps their lack of concern for actual Londoners. Who of course didn't vote for the current government. What with London being majority Labour.

To answer your question. No I don't think so. At least not by regions. There are good and bad, selfish and non selfish, left and right, etc, etc across the UK.

People living in any particular region are not one homogeneous group. Look at the recent thread about Scotland continuing lockdown longer than England. It has Scottish Indy supported, Scottish Unionists, English people who think Sturgeon made the right call, others who think she didn't. It's very mixed views by people not defined by where they live or originally come from.

That's right. Londoners suffer more than most time and time again. From the least affordable housing and consequent very high levels of homelessness to the worse hit and highest numbers of UK deaths by Covid.

We all read the reports by the ONS noting the highest number of deaths occurred in the UK's most deprived areas of the UK. The top ten were all London boroughs.

Coming out of lock down seems to be based on London figures. Yes they had the highest figures at first but their hospital admissions have now plummeted Look at any other area on the graphs and while hospital admissions are slowing doing down it is only slightly and most lines still look relatively straight , not the huge obvious drop of London.case numbers are still high. Lock down should only be eased and schools should only go back when every region has seen the same huge drop as London if the government is so intent of every where in England easing lock down at the same rate.

Not when we all have different lockdown rules now. I can sit in a park in England but not in Scotland. I can meet 6 people in Northern Ireland but only 1 in England. Different R numbers in different regions of England but all treated the same yet the devolved nations are going about it differently. So yes not a United Kingdom.

I think the idea of the constituent parts of the UK being one country is not really a true reflection, even within England there are very different cultures and ways of life and I think there is little in common with many communities - a village in Cornwall, inner city London, market town semi rural middle England and a farming area in Cumbria are so very different with different priorities and outlooks on life.

And please don’t generalise about the south- there is a huge difference between the south east around London and those that are further away from London and the south west.

This is true of every country. There are huge differences in attitudes, opinions and lifestyles between the suburbs of Paris, industrial northern France and the wealthy south west, and in Germany the Bavarian culture of the south is wildly different to that in Berlin.
