To ask what, if any 'face to face support' your school is offering for your year 10s and 12s?

I have one child in year 10, one in year 12. Both schools have said they will offer them one day each, in total, before the summer.

Other local schools are talking about running full school days tues-fri.

Just interested in what everyone else is experiencing?

Since the government haven’t yet said what they have in mind, I imagine most schools haven’t got fixed plans. None will be ‘experiencing’ anything at the moment as no schools have increased their pupil numbers yet.

Not sure what we’re offering yet. We have 12 scenarios planned, and we’re waiting for further advice from the government outlining what/when we should provide. We won’t be doing full school days as we don’t have enough non vulnerable staff.

Not a clue. I'm a teacher in a secondary school rather than a parent.

Our head has said he's got a plan but he had been told to wait before announcing it as they need to wait for the official guidance. So even teachers at my school don't know what the plan is 🤷 I hope we get to know before the parents but I'm not banking on it

I think they are both getting a week of face to face prior to an exam series.

DS is in year 10. There is no 6th form in his school. The only thing I've heard is that the children will go in part time for the core subjects. No earlier than 8th June. Still remote learning for the other subject.

We're having Yr10 and their parents in for a review. Actual teaching won't change before the end of the year. We're also having yr11 (no sixth form) in to check on and support post 16 plans.

As staff I've been told the plan but it hasn't been released to parents yet and won't be confirmed until Friday (and of course may well change after 1/2 term) it does contain more face time then the initial plan from the beginning of the week.

Yes @cardibach you're quite right to pull me up on the use of the word 'experiencing' as opposed to, say, expecting or anticipating. Thank you for your correction.

Thanks everyone else for sharing what the proposals may possibly look like at your schools.

I’m a secondary school supply teacher, and in contact with the schools I am (usually) in on a regular basis.

All the state schools have no idea what they’re planning to do, currently, as still waiting on guidance.

The one private school I go into are hoping to attempt to open for Year 10 and 12 after half term.

You are being a little ridiculous in expecting any info on this given that there isn't yet any government guidance on what is appropriate. I would also expect most headteachers are waiting to see what the impact will be of having children back in primary before they make any plans.

Aiming at present for 3 days a week, 2 core lessons a day, probably June 8 onwards.

I was at a meeting of local secondary heads last week. They're most concerned about how they will cope with the demand for additional keyworker places atm, even just from teachers returning to work. They need to establish what that looks like before they know what they can do for yr10 & 12

And if the government say it should be something else, @PatriciaHolm?
Honestly we’re our own worst enemy in schools, doing work before we get the full information and then having to do it again. Learn from primary colleagues who did this and then were stymied by the government ‘guidance’.

well, nothing to do with me - its my child's school, I'm not a teacher!

They are asking for feedback on the plan. And the current primary guidance is just that, guidance - schools can do differently if they wish (the one I am a governor of is) - so I guess they are thinking things through.

And yet, @cansu , incredibly people are able to share what their schools are currently thinking! So apologies for my 'ridiculous' thread but amazingly some people are able to discuss thoughts and plans.

No news from my year 10 dc's school but we're in Wales so no talk of school reopening yet. She is desperate to go back and really finding it hard now. We'd be happy with anything at this point.

I’m a secondary teacher and I don’t know what my schools plan is, only that it won’t happen until June 8th.

My DH is also a secondary teacher and they are getting year 10 in for 1 day a week from June 1st
