DH going on a roadtrip

We have moved cross country, fairly recently, with baby and toddler. DH has declared he is going back to home town. For a few days.
I've mentioned the fact he isn't actually allowed to, plus he's taking risk to shielding parents and bringing back risk to us.
I've said it's not my decision to make, but think it's not responsible.
Am I being horribly controlling and irrational or is he being a twat?

Twat.

He’s being a twat. A selfish one.
You don’t get a holiday away from your family during a pandemic. You don’t leave your partner alone with two small ones during a pandemic.

Do you think it’s more about seeing parents (concerned) or seeing mates (wanting fun)?

Tell him he needs to stay there til lockdown is over then.
Selfish git.

So he’s just fucking off back to the town you’ve just moved from and leaving you with the kids? Lockdown aside, he’s a twat.

He's a twat.

Does he realise that when you're parents you are a team and can't unilaterally declare you are going to fuck off for a few days?

I mean let alone fucking off for a few days during a pandemic.

He sounds insufferably selfish.

Selfish prick.

Tell him to bloody stay there.

JasonPollack · 20/05/2020 19:13

And when do you get to dump him with both kids and go off for a jolly?

Report
Limpetlike · 20/05/2020 19:14

Ask him how he’s going to ensure the baby and toddler get enough rest breaks on the trip and will have fun once they get to their destination.

Why does he need to do this right now? What's his reasoning? (he's wrong anyway, but...)

Report
Butterymuffin · 20/05/2020 19:17

Actually, that's a better idea, ask him which of the kids he's taking. Only fair you have one each.

Why is he going?

Ubertwat. What’s so urgent that it can’t wait a few more weeks?

He is a twat.

you aren't allowed in other peoples houses except for very restricted reasons. Hotels only for key workers.

so is he going to camp by the road side and excrete in a bucket, then?

Report
Babymamamama · 20/05/2020 20:32

I'd like to know that the reason. Do his parents need assistance?

Report

An utterly selfish bellend.
What if he breaks down? Where is he going to stay?
Oh my days!

Report
FlaskMaster · 20/05/2020 20:40

You're parents, you're a team. One of you doesn't just decide to take themselves off for a fucking mystery tour for a few days, what the fuck?

Report
Igotta · 20/05/2020 20:41

Why's he doing that?

Thanks, I'm glad I'm not being a diva.

His parents are well and early 60's, shielding due to pre-existing conditions. They have plenty of help available, but are absolutely fine.

Reasons are he misses home and his friends and working from home has made him stressed. I mentioned lack of hotels and not being allowed to stay at friends, which he hadn't thought of.

But he won't be able to see friends without social distancing, or go for a drink with them, or stay with them. He hasn't really thought this through, has he?

I'm sure he's stressed. Lots of us are. Suggest instead that he takes a proper day off and goes for a drive out somewhere (not to the beach etc like all the idiots) and goes for a countryside walk or something. Then comes back and does a Zoom call with his friends. Oh, most important bit: then you work out what day he's having both kids while YOU do the same.

So if he can’t stay at friends or a hotel, where is he going to stay?

Many people are stressed at the moment, doesn’t mean they can go off on a jolly.
