Did anyone on MN attend here in the late 70s?

It was actually a boys school but did take a few female pupils in too.

I think you're in the wrong place OP. You'd be better off searching social media or setting up your own page.

@Lockheart why do you think a public forum is the wrong place?

There was a lesser known abuse history in the late 1970s.

Anyone on MN attend or work at the school during this time?

@HeresHowItHappened because this forum is called Am I Being Unreasonable, not Old School Peers United.

Secondly, people at school in the 1970s (let alone those who were adults and working there at the time) are likely to have adult children and are much less likely to frequent a website called Mumsnet. You're targeting the wrong group.

You'd be better off starting a twitter hashtag or using social media.

I think there are lots of older people on here. I was born in 1971, and I know there are lots of others my age and older.

Of course there are lots of older people on here, but it's not the primary demographic is it?

Ignore the self-appointed thread police OP. I can’t help/wasn’t there, but I wish you luck.

@Lockheart People start threads on AIBU for the traffic, don’t you know that?

There will have been plenty of kids age around 10 who would have been at the school in the late 70s who are now in their early 50s. Mumsnet isn’t all 31 year old women in Boden tunics from Islington y’know.

I grew up in Stevenage and I've never even heard of it. Google tells me it's the special school on Webb Rise. Was that not Lonsdale School before it moved to the Marriotts site?

Was it called Larwood back in the 1970s, or should I be asking acquaintances about Lonsdale?

It was called Hilltop School in the 70s, changed to Larwood later.

Larwood is a special school now. I know a few kids who attend but not the history. I'd direct you to local Facebook pages, you may get a better response.

OP there is a FB page called "Old Memories of Stevenage". I'd definitely try that. Good luck.

The report is over ten years old but has been updated. I can't see what the update us though due to the many ads and pop ups on that site. Horrific though.
