I keep getting a banner on the site saying Mumsnet needs my help. Has anyone signed up for Premium - is it worth it?

I haven't. It's a bit rich asking your users for help when a lot of them will be having financial concerns.

NeutralJanet Tue 19-May-20 19:07:26

Haven't signed up, don't intend to. I haven't got an ad blocker either before I get accused of "freeloading".

SummerHouse Tue 19-May-20 19:11:14

The 'needs your help' part puts me off. It's payment for better access not a charitable cause or personal favour....

Mrscaindingle Tue 19-May-20 19:14:36

I have as presently there are TRA's trying to get advertisers to pull out of Mumsnet and actively pursuing companies who advertise here.
I would hate to see MN go under because of this I have had many years of support, invaluable information and laughs on these boards so am happy to do this while I can.
If you can't afford it don't do it but to me it's worth doing.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine Tue 19-May-20 19:15:39

I have, very happy to pay for less adverts.

LemonPudding Tue 19-May-20 19:32:12

I thought about it but until they stop the attacks on teachers they can whistle.

JaniceBattersby Tue 19-May-20 19:34:18

I have. It’s worth a fiver a month to me. Happy to support any business I use regularly and value. So many women would have been worse off if mumsnet weren’t here during the last couple of decades.

tilder Tue 19-May-20 19:34:46

I haven't. Various reasons. I have started clicking on ads though as I think that helps.

SabrinaThwaite Tue 19-May-20 19:36:26

Nope. I looked at the last set of accounts.

zscaler Tue 19-May-20 19:39:05

I haven’t and tbh I won’t. I barely notice the ads and can’t see that I would gain much from the premium version of the site. At this time I would rather spent my money on local businesses to me that I really care about and want to survive.

Truthpact Tue 19-May-20 19:41:26

Haha not a chance.

SabrinaThwaite Tue 19-May-20 19:43:39

Oh and given all the past data breaches, I wouldn’t want to give MN access to any of my financial data.

MrsWooster Tue 19-May-20 19:45:11

I have. It’s a quid a week for a site that I value and enjoy. Also every tiny gesture of support helps against the Men’s Rights Activists trying to attack women’s space to talk...

MayFayner Tue 19-May-20 19:45:34

I might, when the new features “coming soon” have actually materialised.

If they turn out to be something good, that is.

Larkspurandhollyhocks Tue 19-May-20 19:47:20

I have yes and quite gladly. I don't even care about whether or not I see adverts tbh, it's been an invaluable source of help and information to me over the last 15 years so more than happy to chip in when they're struggling.

colouringindoors Tue 19-May-20 19:48:57

Yes because its the only place online you can talk about concerns around trans and gender ideology. And bullying from a couple of vocal and unpleasant individuals has meant major advertisers are pulling campaigns.

Nicknacky Tue 19-May-20 19:50:09

I’m curious to know how many people that did sign up for it and have now cancelled.

tinylittlehat Tue 19-May-20 19:51:12

Yes, I have. Not too bothered about the new features to be honest. I spend so much time on here and I just see it as paying for content I read.

anothernamechangeagain Tue 19-May-20 19:52:43

No, and I won't be

HopeYouStepOnALego Tue 19-May-20 20:05:38

No way! I'm not paying for basic features that should already be available, and are available for free on other sites. The ads don't bother me.

66redballons Tue 19-May-20 20:08:24

Not a chance, research them, they are not as hard up as you think. They use other people’s tales and now want use to pay for the privilege. Hmmmm nope.

CoronaIsComing Tue 19-May-20 20:29:41

No as there isn’t actually any extra features and I won’t while they keep allowing all the teacher bashing posts. I only use the forum so that’s content that hasn’t been created by Mumsnet any way

SpeedofaSloth Tue 19-May-20 20:30:18

Yes.
