Aibu to think this kind of biased opinion has no place on the BBC

“It has been obvious that Nicola Sturgeon has enjoyed the opportunity to set her own lockdown rules and not have to follow what's happening in England and other parts of the UK”.

Sarah Smith, BBC News at 10 (18/5/20)

Why? She's absolutely spot on. It's about time someone called out Sturgeon for the pathetic one upmanship games she's played since this whole thing started.

No you are completely wrong and have deliberately misunderstood the question. She has her briefing earlier that’s all. Boris could move his if he wanted. I never really went in for NS politics but I get no sense she is enjoying this one little bit or using it to get political one upmanship. However the point here is the completely biased view of this woman on a piblic funded channel.

This publicly funded channel is one of the most biased o f all. Yes you might reasonably expect the BBC to be impartial but it is anything but. Listen to the today programme interviews on radio 4. Panorama. There is nothin impartial about the BBC

ALL of the politicians will use situations for their own agenda, keir Starmer is the latest

I don’t think this is really the most egregious example of BBC bias that we’ve ever seen, to be honest.

Sarah Smith has apologised on twitter to NS unfortunately that won't be seen by the vast majority of people who watched it

She didn’t say anything wrong. Sturgeon is following strategies to make her more popular in Scotland. All other countries are now starting to relax lockdowns - the ‘high UK death rate’ is a misnomer as we know that other countries aren’t reporting deaths in the community.

So what if she has "enjoyed" doing what is right for the Scottish people instead of blindly following WM?

She is making the decisions she feels best for her country and good fucking on her.

But let's wait for the Scotland bashing to start in 3, 2, 1... it's been extremely prevalent across alot of threads the last couple of days and has been quite entertaining to see the worst of society declare how awful we are. Like their opinion actually matters

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 19/05/2020 11:27

She isn't reporting news, she expressed an opinion. That isn't what she is paid to do. As she has apologised, I'd let it go this time (with some stern words of warning).

There has been a lot of Scotland bashing that’s for sure. We were a few weeks behind England in the curve so it makes sense to hang fire and now she says we will start following easy at the end of the month oh a few weeks after England. To say she is trying to get one up is DM nonsense

YABU to demand someone loses their job. Why not just say you expect her to re-phrase?

Report

You could interpret it as taken off air for the duration for hugely over stepping the mark. People have been sacked for less

Yep Jazzled. The usual suspects will be along to bash NS and some illinformed randomers will post about English tax payers paying for Scotland

I don’t think sacking her is a proportionate response

Report
StoorieHoose · 19/05/2020 11:35

Given that SS has backtracked and apologised she cant be "stating the truth"

100%. I think at the very least a public apology on air.

I think Nicola Sturgeon is great and I wish I was in Scotland, for this at least. I also think she's enjoyed setting her own agenda and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Why wouldn't she - it's exactly her goal in pursuing independence? I'm not sure why Sarah Smith shouldn't have made that observation either - it's not exactly a leap. I'm surprised she had to apologise (assuming she 'had' to). Perhaps she just thought it would be the politic thing to do. A bit of an overreaction, OP, I think.

The BBc is anything but impartial and SNP despite their protests get more than the rub of the green. There is nothing wrong with stating a personal opinion and the SNP and Holyrood in general should get a lot more challenge than they do.

No she isn't stating the truth. It's disgusting to say on a national news report that Nicola Sturgeon is enjoying this. I couldn't care if you like NS or not and clearly you don't but NS is the First Minister of the country and is not doing what she does because she's enjoying anything.
But here we go again eh?
I will start wee Nippy is awful and is trying to be different, the SNP are a cult, Scotland is subdisuded by English tax payers and should fuck off. Repeat ad nauseum. Hmm
