AIBU?

To be fed up of threads in here that aren't AIBU?

Examples:

'AIBU to think this is really cheeky?' - fine

'AIBU to not go to this event?' - fine

'AIBU to ask if your favourite colour is red or green?' - yes, because that is not an AIBU

'AIBU to ask what you think of donkeys?' - yes, because that's what the Chat board is for!!!

It's SO irritating - we may as well have no categories if people ignore them! Unless your post is a genuine AIBU question please post in the right topic.

Fully expect people to tell me I'm overreacting and IABU but I'm glad I've got that off my chest Grin

If you think about it, they are all AIBU questions

People post on AIBU rather than in the topic subsections because it gets read a lot more.

Why is there this idea it's read more or AIBU has more traffic. Do most people read by specific topics rather than Active Topics?

(YaNBU Op, there are some odd questions put up.)

Any post that states "posting here for traffic" should immediately be deleted by HQ!

It doesn’t bother me, I like the variety! The ‘AIBU’ ones are often the most boring because either everyone agrees or it just goes on and on and on for pages and pages of tedious arguing.
So YABU! Grin

It's because all other boards are basically dead and AIBU gets the most traffic. That's not the fault of the posters that the fault of MNHQ for not moderating the site properly and moving threads more often. I stopped posting on here as I tried using other boards and barely get any response

I always vote Yabu where they don't frame the question in a way so that the voting makes sense.

And I actually agree with your point that we may as well not uave categories. So many of the other boards are so quiet they’re pointless. 4-5 boards is all we need, something like:
AIBU
Chat
Parenting
Politics
Education
Style&beauty.
Maybe there are some other popular ones to include but we certainly don’t need all the ones that exit now.

YABU, I don't care what forum a thread is in. If it looks interesting I will click and if not I won't.

I remember telling my brother about mumsnet years ago and he found the fact that there was a forum called AIBU the funniest thing ever. Every time I saw him for weeks he would put on a very middle class voice and say "am I being unreasonable?"

Where's your AIBU poll? Yours isn't a real AIBU post without voting. Off with your head!Grin

Can you please add a diagram to make it clearer.

It’s done for traffic 🤷🏽‍♀️

While I don't like forums where the admin are super strict I do think there's not enough moderation here when it comes to posting in the right place. MNHQ have allowed AIBU to take over and it perpetuates as no one posts in the quieter topics.

This results in a) every question having to be posed as an AIBU however silly and b) combative answers to every thread

Yes, this has irritated me for ages.
EG AIBU to ask for recommendations for a hairdryer, or something similar.
But i guess AIBU has the most traffic.

I used to go to the Talk page but find AIBU most interesting TBH! I am quite happy and dont mind if someone says "what do you think of my new frock" or whatever .Equally if someone is having a hard time of it then can advise /sympathise whatever all in one place!

It’s either for traffic or it’s ‘I’m not being unreasonable am I ?’.

I don’t mind, if it’s interesting I’ll read the thread. You’ll always get the quite pompous ‘and your AIBU is?’

Your thread is a flimsy excuse for an aibu too.Its just the most popular and where a lot of people prefer to post.

If you don’t like it report it to MN and allow them do to the policing!

YABU. It really doesn't matter.

What bothers me more is when people post in AIBU and then get all upset and act like a snowflake when some home truths get pointed out Grin

I look for threads using Active threads (with a few categories hidden - I wonder if it's safe to unhide "Christmas" yet?) so I will see a thread regardless if it's in AIBU on not
