To ask what you've done to cheer yourself up this week

I posted a few weeks asking if people had brought themselves treats, which was brilliant as so many people were rightfully splurging on themselves when lockdown started. Just interested what you're all up to now that the panic has calmed a little and the 'new normal' is emerging.

I'm still clutching at moments right now battling with a two year old and a four month old with DH wfh (I'm on 'mat leave').
This week I brought some facial care stuff. Not sure I needed it but my new routine means I get 10minutes at the start and end of my day ALL TO MYSELF which means I bloody love it.
I've also started a book (to read whilst hiding) and started binge watching after life when the kids go to bed.

Small wins, but reasons to smile atm. What have you done?

I've driven the two miles to a deserted forest to walk the dogs each day.

Previously I've had to walk them round the roads where lots of people are exercising.

They've been off lead, we've seen no one and it's been wonderful

We have been to the seaside a couple of times in our campervan and had really lovely afternoons there.

Also been to the garden centre a couple of times and bought loads of new plants to cheer up the garden.

It's been really good having lovely weather I think it helped a lot that we could have been able to be outside as much as we have.

I met my dad (who I haven’t seen since February) for a socially distanced walk in the park yesterday and even though it was hard to keep apart and not hug him, after we started chatting and watching the ducks it felt like the most ‘normal’ thing I’ve done in months. Can’t wait to do more.

I also dyed my hair so feel better without my roots peeking out.

Am still following the stay at home lockdown rules so not been anywhere nicer than normal. Enjoying watch Brassic once the kids are in bed. Download season 2. Also started to watch After Life. Also ordered a jumper from Fatface.

Made a fake Nando’s for dinner tonight- bloody gorgeous, painted my toe nails neon pink, and been for a walk which even a reluctant teen ended up enjoying.

We treated ourselves to a food box from one of our lovely local restaurants. Have just had the most gorgeous ox cheek pie for tea. Am considering splashing out on a new pair of slippers.

I was also inspired by that thread, so I bought a luxury steak and ale pie too and it was fabulous.

I got really burnt out by too many zoom calls this week so I've avoided any of the fun zoom calls I usually do and had a weekend trying not feeling guilty about not doing much. I've sat in the garden a fair bit, done a little (not a lot) bit of gardening, and accidentally sunburnt my white legs. Much needed time off.

Dyed my hair, bought some new facial serum and had a Jo Malone bath with a face mask last night. Little moments of lush

We were having a takeaway tea and I didn't want what DH and DD were having. Instead of comprising like normal I ordered separately and got the type of food I wanted. Never ordered a takeaway for one before!
The watercolour paints I mentioned buying in your other thread are great fun so I bought some online tutorials. On Friday night I had a long phone chat with my friend while drinking a beer then stayed up late painting. On Saturday I told my DD she definitely wasn't coming in the bath with me this time, even though she cried and kept trying to get in. Eventually she gave up and I had a long boiling hot bath and read the magazines out the newspaper.
Have also watched all of series 1 of Brassic and burst out laughing several times, which did me good.

Yes so did I, me and dh had it with chunky chips and a large glass of red wine. Was delicious. M&S know how to make a pie 😍

Also ordered some —Very Expensive— Face masks but my face now looks fabulous. My skin has really struggled in lockdown, no idea why.

Ordered paint and wood flooring online and dh and dd11 spent the weekend decorating the spare room for me as it has become my office/yoga space since lockdown.

I haven’t done much. As my dad died two weeks ago going to his funeral last week was the first time I had worn make up, done my hair and wore a dress and low heels in months.
I have a socially distant catch up coffee on zoom with friends which is nice.
Had some nice walks in the fresh air with the dog.
Put some fake tan on my lily white legs.
I am trying to grow my grey hair out and persevere with this so my hair is kind of two tone and the grey is making me feel a bit old and grey, down and a bit unloved.
Might treat myself to some eyebrow dye I saw advertised on this morning.

Tiramisuiloveyou · 17/05/2020 19:52

Sorry I meant grow the blonde dye out and let my hair go grey naturally. It needs a blooming good cut and possibly a toner but not sure what to use.

I bought some posh CC cream online. I also went for a socially distant walk with a friend and it was so nice to spend time in female company.
Whenever I get a free moment I’m also rewatching Grey’s Anatomy from the start. I feel that I should do something more productive but I’m really enjoying it.
