Does anybody know somebody who posts on here in RL but they don't know that you know who they are? Not asking anyone to out anyone im just curious. My senior manager is on here. She doesn't know who I am in work so never mind anywhere else!
At work she appears unapproachable but on here whenever I see her she seems really kind. Anyone else?

How do you know it’s her?

I remember one post about a particular scandal that affected our area ages ago. There was a link to a newapaper article and people were ripping it to shreds as happens on here. She had some knowledge abou the situation that the newspaper omitted and I said to someone else at work (we both know each other) on mumsnet and in RL that I thought it was our service lead. My friend told me it is. Looking back at it I noticed that she uses her surname and part of her DOB. So I'm 90% sure it is her.

And now she knows you know her, as you've just out'd it Grin

I was on a baby name thread last week watching a conversation about unusual names. My eldest sons name was mentioned, an extremely unusual name, then somebody said
I know brothers called 'DS1s name' and 'DS2s even more unusual name'
Grin I nearly jumped out of my skin. There are no other siblings called those names
Strangers on the Internet are talking about my children.

Pretty sure she'll find out now if she reads this thread Grin I don't know you or her from anywhere but I feel like I know her now after reading your post about her (I don't).

I know several but it’s because I met them through here and when they have changed usernames, I have recognised them.

I do know someone in RL but we did meet on here. I'm not in the habit of outing myself to mn'rs but she provided me with some very good advice and it went from there. I've name changed but she hasn't so probably doesn't know who I am on here now.

A relative of mine was on here for some years. She was super open and confident about sharing all sorts of stuff on here including children's names, where she lived, education and jobs etc. I certainly knew it was her quite quickly. I don't know if she spotted me - definitely not in the first year or two as she made derogatory comments about me and my bit of the family, maybe later she did as the comments faded away.

I thought about whether to out myself to her but spent such a long time thinking about it it seemed too late...

Yes, there is one user who has posted occasionally and I'm certain I know them.

Ex sister in law. Because of an unusual baby name thread. She got really offended by a lot of responses, she also mentioned it when we had coffee once, so I knew it was her. To be fair, the name was a crazy choice and not surprised people take the mick, but the child is beautiful and does suit her name.

Yes my sister is on here and I spotted her when she referenced something in her life!

A RL friend recognised me from a post. She told me in case I wanted to name change. As we are good friends I did not bother.

We have both spotted a poster about whom we know a fair bit, but have not told her, we just enjoy the odd giggle at her posts.

@Isawamagpie.... she doesn't know me from Adam. There are a million usernames she could have to anyone else that didn't know its the first few letters and her birthday. I onlu know when I looked in hindsight. I am anonymous in my insignificance to her life........hopefully Smile

Someone from my block of flats is on here as she recognised a famous neighbour, I don’t know which resident she is though.

I know (or knew!) Kate Middleton in real life and apparently she’s on here Grin

Yes, two. One was from a baby names thread as her DC has a very unusual name and it wasn’t hard to work it out. The other is someone local to me who posted something about our area and I realised they live on my road!

@zscaler
Where did you know her from? My sister was invited to the Queen's garden party as part of a literary event she hosted. She was a guest of Carol-Anne Duffy the Poet Laureate. She mate Kate and said she was kind, gracious and good humoured.

A school friend of mine was friends with her at university, so I met her at a few parties and once at a polo match. We weren’t ever independently friendly, just friends-of-a-friend. She was good fun and always very sweet.

Also, I love Carol Ann Duffy! We had ‘Valentine’ printed in the order of service at our wedding.

My cousin is on here too. But she is to classy for AIBU.....apparently. She was over on another board slagging my mum off for inheriting some money. My grandad died a long time ago now and my mum was named as the executor which she thought meant that my mum would inherit the estate. After selling the flat at a massive loss my mum, my uncle (her dad) andctheir two siblings came out with £600.00 each my mum diligently shared out 600 to each sibling and no more was said. It happened that my mum and dad spent £2000 on a little car six months later and she felt that money had come from our granddad. £600 came from inherited money and £1400 I gave them from my savings. She slagged them off something rotten i haven't said a word and just let her dog her miserable pit.

My cousin is on here. She recognised me from some comments on different threads. I’ve name changed since then but not because of that. I think she’s still around so hi if you’re here!

I recognised someone and said hello to them. Feel bad because I did it without thinking and she's either NC or left now

@zscaler..... lovely idea for a wedding. I met Carol Ann Duffy at the literary event. She had a rider of a certain bottle of champagne which my sister had forgotten to buy. It wasn't expensive but M and S was closed ao I ran to Aldi and bought some prosecco apologising profusely as she had volunteered to open the event and speak without any fee. She was absolutely lovely and said that she couldn't care less, she poured me herself me and my sister a glass of the prosecco and paid for the entire buffet as my sister had bought the food from her own money.
Four days later my sister had a phone call from Royal representatives and she was invited to the garden party with Carol Ann. Very surreal but very lovely.
