I had cystitis a few years ago which then developed into a kidney infection. It burned and hurt so much to wee and I felt rotten. I also had awful back pain.

Yesterday I started with mid to low back ache. Today I feel discomfort when I wee. Looking back over the past week or so I've been going more frequently. It doesn't hurt or sting to wee but it's uncomfortable. I also have some discomfort in each side in my lower ribs. Tonight I feel like I have cold in my sides if that makes sense and I'm starting to feel a bit poorly.

Could this be a UTI? If so with it been the weekend should I call 111? Can they prescribe antibiotics or will have to wait for my GP on Monday? Thanks

Ring 111, it’s what they are there for. We’re not medical experts and if you are worried please do what you need to. No one will think badly of you.

Ring 111 now. Don’t wait until Monday as UTIs progress rapidly and you could become extremely ill.

How are you feeling OP?
I have had UTI symptoms for 2 and half weeks now. I'm on my second course of AB's (day 5) and no improvement Shock Will ring GP again tomorrow. I considered 111 today but decided to hold off till tomorrow morning. Were 111 able to help you at all?

I doubt getting to a pharmacist tonight will be possible so little point in 111 tonight. Gp/walk in tomorrow first thing, it's a lot simpler then the gauntlet of 111. If not possible then 111 would be last option. NHS choices website has a useful section regards red flags/sepsis advice if you're concerned its progressing to a more serious infection.

Phone 111 now.
I have had to phone many times for cystitis and either the doctor has given me the antibiotics from whichever health centre I went to or less often, if it was before midnight, I've had to go to a late night pharmacy. Don't leave it to turn into a kidney infection.
