BW or KR instead of Best Wishes/Kind Regards

YES - it’s the modern era, we don’t have time for full words, the sentiment is there

NO - rude as fuck, how important do you think you are that you can’t even type out best wishes

YANBU
I have a colleague who signs off with

Best

Find that a bit pretentious, too.

iklboo Thu 14-May-20 22:26:39

No. Just no. Rude as Rudey McRudeface. It's like you can't be arsed putting the time in.

'Yours, without rancour and in deepest regard' grin

CrawleyJ Thu 14-May-20 22:27:42

'Yours, without rancour and in deepest regard'

I’m using that from now on

I was confused by the voting, I don't really care if they put KR or BW, I just read the email.

ragged Thu 14-May-20 22:28:22

I do Rgds or b/w a lot ... it's fine if this puts you in such a huff that you never answer my emails again. We will probably both be happier that way.

LaPampa Thu 14-May-20 22:29:46

You don’t even need to type it every time. Just put it in your email signature then type the email and send.

WhatwouldLangdo Thu 14-May-20 22:31:31

I use best if it's a few emails into an exchange and I know the person.
I've never received an email with those abbreviations thankfully.
Rgds is just sheer laziness hmm I'd want to ask if all their vowel keys had suddenly broken.

Trumpleton Thu 14-May-20 22:33:00

It is highly annoying.

Also hate 'congrats'
Sounds almost sarcastic. Not that hard to type the whole word if you mean it!

MinesAPintOfTea Thu 14-May-20 22:33:03

What about people who put "Best Regards" in their signature? Always feels a bit impersonal

daisypond Thu 14-May-20 22:33:32

I would have no idea what BW or KR meant. Obviously, having read the thread, now I do. It’s really rude.

changechange Thu 14-May-20 22:33:52

Yep, I'm with Jennifer ..

Seriously, who cares? Absolutely don't have time to care in the slightest how you sign off unless it says

" BW - no actually I'm lying fuck off you knob"

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese Thu 14-May-20 22:34:59

Hate hate hate it!!!
It's lazy

justasking111 Thu 14-May-20 22:35:01

Our charity had a template they provided which you had to adhere to no matter who you were speaking to, volunteers took umbrage to it because it was so meh. We always put a friendly sentence above it to get round the problem.

SummerHouse Thu 14-May-20 22:36:58

I'd want to ask if all their vowel keys had suddenly broken.

This reminds me I had a keyboard at work set to American. All the symbols were mixed up and there was literally no £. When I needed a £ I had to get a colleague to email me one so I could copy and paste it.

DamnYankee Thu 14-May-20 22:41:29

No. But I also hate it when people abbreviate "you are" in a text and type "u r." It seems very juvenile.

Runbitchrun Thu 14-May-20 22:42:28

Ok, well I voted the wrong way as it wasn’t clear at all. Who the fuck types that?!

iklboo Thu 14-May-20 22:42:44

* WHO CARES*

Most of this thread grin

JudyCoolibar Thu 14-May-20 22:43:21

Seems fine to me. I have to say I rarely notice what people use; after all, what does "regards" or "Yours sincerely" mean? And when they put Best Wishes, they rarely mean it.

skyblu Thu 14-May-20 22:52:22

The WORST abbreviation in my opinion is “RIP”.
You see it on Facebook all the time. Someone writes a heartfelt, painful post about they’ve lost their much loved mum/dad/nan/son/dog/cat....and there comments one after the other of a simple “RIP”.
Someone actually dies, and people STILL can’t be arsed to type the extra 8 letters.
I think writing/typing RIP is actually more disrespectful than just typing nothing at all.

Juanmorebeer Thu 14-May-20 22:53:46

Never seen this or heard of it and wouldn't do it.

If someone signed off with bw I'd probably be able to figure it out but def not kr I'd assume a typo

Thurmanmurman Fri 15-May-20 00:31:58

It's rude as

Sparklesocks Fri 15-May-20 00:36:27

It doesn’t really bother me. As long as they aren’t signing off:

Will wait time hear from you,

Get fucked,
Joe Bloggs

Then I don’t consider any type of sign off rude!

SecondaryBurnzzz Fri 15-May-20 00:41:08

You could just reply with tldr 🤣
