AIBU?

People in the Tesco queue are doing the Macarena and I’m cringing so hard I think I might turn inside out

Just that really, essential shopping trip for us and two elderly shielded neighbours. Standing in the huge queue for Tesco, they’re blasting 90’s and 00’s classics out and people are dancing accordingly. At the end of each song they all cheer and clap. I’m a complete introvert, would rather shut my left tit in a car door than get involved.

Probably being a miserable kill joy but with a killer virus on the loose I don’t feel like flailing your limbs about and cheering me in close proximity to lots of people is the best idea. I want to shop then go home and sit in the bloody garden, not do the fucking time warp. Again.

You’ll get loads of people commenting YABU, but I agree with you OP. It’s come to light there’s some right tits about. Maybe it’s boredom

Sorry but this got me singing and laughing
do the fucking time warp. Again

Are you sure you don't want to join in? Seems like a good perk upper(is that a thing?) for lockdown

I'm the same way with the clapping btw!

Oh god, I’m not in the least bit introvert, but would still rather stub my toe than do the Macarena in a supermarket queue. YANBU.

I doubt it's compulsory to join in or be asked to shop elsewhere.
Let people get on with it. You have every right not to, they have every right to enjoy having to queue up for ages

My ample hips would definitely break the 2n rule if swung. Not that anyone else is abiding by that. A few have high fived.

I’ve got a bastarding wonky trolley too, it keeps veering off to the right towards the dancing people so I probably look like I’m tentatively pointing my trolley in that direction in the hope of being coaxed to join in. Either that or the trolley wants a boogie. Bastard.

Many threads on here about the impact of lockdown on people's mental health and you begrudge those who enjoy a bit of cheering up before the trauma of a supermarket shop? It's all a bit Butlins for me for I would not mind anyone else getting their groove on (from 2m away)

You have walked in to Hell 😭😭

Buy gin in the shop to numb the pain once home, gin is British right? And it is VE Day

I'm glad I wasn't there, because I would have joined in and made a tit of myself.

I've come to the conclusion I must be really miserable as I would hate this too! Also can't think of anything worse than a street party with the neighbours and the Thursday clapping makes me cringe. I can't help it. I sometimes think it would be nice to be more like the people who enjoy this stuff!
