Ok 3 weeks ago my 1 cat had kittens and has been in alllllllll the time, last tuesday or so my other cat had kittens, we found them stone cold and barely alive, the other cat took on the kittens and fostered them. Yesterday morning i remember seeing her feeding all of the kittens and then she was gone......

We hadnt seen cat1 shall we say, since tuesday and basically presumed the worst had happened

Anyway a woman came knocking on the door today and said have you got 2 silver tabby cats, i said yes were they wearing collars? she said yes i said well they are mine!!!

She said well im quite happy to take them and the kittens off you as you seem like you have alot going on!

I said no i want my cats back as the kittens havent been fed! I explained that cat2 was only in yesterday and the conversation went something like this....

Me: did you lock the cats in?
Her Dp: well obviously
Me:well if you hadnt they would have come back
Her DP: oh.....

Now i MAY be being unreasonable but im pretty sure you dont lock a cat in and claim it as its run into your house? They both had collars on so obviously they belonged to someone!!!

Im so angry !!!!

Please say IANBU???

YANBU!!! silly woman I would have had to shout at her
An old lady stole our much loved cat by feeding him salmon and luring him in and locking the door she blatantly told us she was doing this then a year later she knocked on the door and told us the cat had something wrong with his mouth and tried to give me a vet bill I told her to feck off

Fred (my excat) does sometimes pop back to say hello but likes salmon and no noisy kids so goes back to the "OTHER WOMAN"

But as for your situation it is totally stupid to take in two cats who obviosly are feeding kittens did you get them back BTW?

no you're not, poor kittens not getting a feed, are they o.k. ?

my cats don't wear collars, they've been chipped, and I don't want them getting stuck in trees, so my opinion is that they shouldn't have locked them in with or without collars, feral cats don't usually run into houses, so on balance would argue cats are pets and belong to someone if they wander into the house

once had a friend whose weird neighbour kept on trying to entrap their cats, took a very stern word for them to stop

YANBU but cats are kind of survivalists, aren't they? They'll go where there's food. So, you can't really stop them from visiting this woman.. .. . . . .but they are yours.

I remember my cat coming home after a couple of weeks away with a thumping great abscess on his head and took him to the vet straightaway. Knock on the door and a smilling neighbour was enquiring after his health, saying he often 'lived' at her house, that her kids thought of him as their cat and had given him the poncey name of Brush. She'd noticed the wound a week before. I got angry and asked her why she'd let the poor animal suffer especially when she considered him 'hers'. She had no insurance for him, was her response. Right.

Tell them to leave the mums alone to feed the kittens and then maybe she can buy one off you if she's so desperate for a cat (you don't just take someone elses cat!! for you)

you know it isn't too late to have your say

go back, knock on her door tell her you were to stunned to say what you wanted to say but did she know that by locking your cats in she almost murdered 3 kittens .. that it is in your view tantamount to theft .. and that she should really think incredibly carefully before stealing cats who have collars and patently belong to someone. Tell her you are absolutely appalled and was rendered speechless by her cruel actions

my cat disappeared from home about six months ago
didnt come back for a day or two then returned, this happened a few times when one day she came home wearing a new collar!!! (i have had her since she was a kitten and we had only moved into this area when she was a year old, no possible mistakes to be made)
Anyway, I stuck a note on this collar explaining she had a home and thatthe reason she didnt havea collar was as she had had an accident with one before getting it caught. I also explained how I had two children who kept panicking their cat had been hurt when it didnt return for days
The first time, the guy bought back, but this kept happening. Then we moved house, and hadnt seen the cat for nearly a week. I know part of the reason she didnt come back so often was that she was scared of the kids so was quite upset when we had to leave without her, thankfully dp's m um went to clean up the house for us once we had moved, and there was smudge in the garden, as there were no kids about it was easy for her to grab her, she put her in the car and drove straight here, I confirmed it was her and now smudge lives happily with dps parents and no annoying kids.
I do sometimes wonder if these people think 'their cat' has been 'stolen'!!!!
But no, YANBU!!!

I just said thankyou for looking after them but oh my fucking god!!!!!!!!!

Maybe i should report her to the police?

no thats a bit to severe.

But it goes to show, i heard a meowing at the door and though uh??? as they had gone back to fetch the cats, i opened it and molly ran in and straight to her babies, aparently the woman had opened the cat basket door by accident and molly had run out and straight HOME!!! ffs

if you do decide to speak to her again, tell her you're reporting her to the RSPCA for cruelty to your cat by locking it in, and for almost murdering the kittens
