To worry about no pregnancy symptoms at 8 weeks?

RoseGoldEagle · 04/03/2020 12:26

Am 8 weeks into my third pregnancy. With the first and second- I had sickness from 6 weeks, and extreme tiredness. This time, so far, I have no sickness and feel pretty normal energy wise (I mean I’m tired, but always am a bit running around after a 3 and 1 year old, nothing out of the ordinary). Worried the pregnancy isn’t progressing like it should be. Should I be worried? Did anyone else have no symptoms in a later pregnancy when they’d had them before? Sorry posting in AIBU but posting for traffic as can’t help worrying, thank you!

Symptoms or lack of them don't mean anything. I didn't have any early symptoms with either of my pregnancies and have a 3 year old and am 31 weeks with number 2. I'm sure you'll be fine! Congratulations! Flowers

I Had no typical symptoms until c 20 weeks- very easy pregnancy though- nothing wrong with that. Be grateful whilst it lasts.

It's not unusual not to have any symptoms and it doesn't mean there's anything wrong. It's more worrying to start off with symptoms which then stop but that's not what's happening with you so I wouldn't be concerned. Having said that I think most people feel anxious till they've had a scan. I wish you well with your pregnancy.

Are your first 2 girls?

Thanks! I guess I’m just comparing it to the first two. Hammeringinmyhead - no, one girl and one boy. The sickness was different- I was sick quite often with DD, whereas I just felt very nauseous but wasn’t actually sick with DS, but this time nothing. Will try not to worry, it just feels forever until the 12 week scan!

I don't think you can read much into it - as others say it's more worrying if they start then stop. You could always see about a private scan around 10 weeks or so if you are still worried. Flowers

I don't think it's even worrying if they start then stop, and the sex of the baby doesn't make a difference either! Your body's reaction to pregnancy hormones can be similar or different and it doesn't signify anything about how your pregnancy is progressing. It's completely normal to worry, but unless you have bleeding and/or cramping then most likely everything will be fine Smile

Yeah I might book a private scan. Had one with DD because I’d had a miscarriage before her and was so anxious. Thought I’d be super chilled with number 3 but guess it doesn’t work that way!

I also didn’t have any symptoms at 8 weeks other then an ultrasound with the midwife that confirmed I was pregnant. I threw up twice during my entire pregnancy both after eating too much/ too spicy foods.

Thanks ‘AlmostAlwyn*. No bleeding or cramping. I need to just appreciate it I guess!

Hi I completely understand how you feel. I have had two miscarriages where morning sickness started and then stopped earlier than my healthy pregnancy.

With the last pregnancy I mentioned lack of symptoms to my midwife and she gave the response all pregnancy's are different and then joked had I had a positive (yes each week I got a positive).

So I don't think anyone can reassure you but a private scan is worth the cost to put your mind at rest.

And remember maybe focus on the lack of scary symptoms like spotting.

Good luck and I am sure everything will be fine!

I don't have any sage advice but I'm in the same boat! This is pregnancy no. 3 and I feel absolutely fine. I'm 5/6 weeks (irregular periods so not entirely sure) but I feel a bit of a fraud!

With my first pregnancy I had no symptoms apart from heart burn when I was quite far along. I recently had a miscarage at 12 weeks, I had symptoms like sickness and full breasts with this pregnancy from a few days before I did a test, symptoms stopped around 8 weeks but I knew something wasn't right from the beginning, can't explain why just had an overwhelming feeling.

I had every symptom going with my DS’s but absolutely nothing with my DD’s, just didn’t feel pregnant at all. No symptoms can be totally normal, it’s when they suddenly disappear before about 11-12 weeks you should worry.

Just wanted to update in case anyone reads this thread with similar concerns- had an early scan today and so far all is well, one perfectly sized baby with strong heart beat Smile. Guess I just have to try and appreciate my lack of symptoms and fingers crossed all stays well! Thanks for all the advice x

Hi @RoseGoldEagle how are you doing now? I just came on here to check if anyone is experiencing the same as me. Im 6+3 today and other than the odd random symptom and a general stomach uncomfortable-ness I've had nothing. Did you get symptoms yet? I hope all is well :)

Hi gingerninja85 all is fine thanks, just had 20 week scan and everything going as it should Smile. I just haven’t had any symptoms at all this time around! With my first two pregnancies my sickness was worse with DD than DS (though I had it both time), so I’d thought maybe this was another DS, but it’s a girl, so clearly that doesn’t mean much either! Could be worth getting an early scan just for reassurance? 6 weeks is still early though, so it could be you do get some symptoms in the next week or so!

I had 2 pregnancies and zero symptoms in first trimester for both. One sadly ended in MC at 12 weeks, the other is now my 9 year old daughter!
