AIBU?

To think ITV are just plain fucking stupid for this?

Jeremy Kyle is returning to ITV, format of the show yet unknown, but his representative confirmed today he will be coming back on a new show “to have his say”.

Given the show was taken off air in the first place due to a suicide and bullying claims, not to mention the Love Island suicides and Caprice recently slamming the channel for the lack of aftercare provided to her after she quit Dancing on Ice, who on Earth in that company thinks that this is a good idea?

Love island is still going. As is Dancing on ice. He probably won’t be doing same sort of show.

to Jeremy fucking Kyle.

Him and his bloody show epitomises everything shite about society today.

I'd bet he's going to come back with a series more like the one off episodes he did where him and Graham congratulated themselves for giving support to people with gambling / drug problems / tracking down long lost family members. Lots of sad and emotional piano jingles will be required for the people coming on and off stage.

I did wonder that sponge but it was the “to have his say” quote that jumped out. From what I’ve seen he doesn’t really “have his say” without shouting or goading

FWIW i think Jezza is a nob. He used to be on a Birmingham radio station and did a late night call in show. He faked a man who was apparently going to jump off a motorway bridge. I was listening at the time with Jezza apparently running around the M6 looking for the ‘jumper’ it was all fake in the end. Put me off him. That was ages before TV

Wow @spongeandcustard that is disgusting

Difference between love island and Jeremy Kyle is that he encourages the exploitation of already vulnerable people and it’s made for people to have a laugh about and feel better about their own lives and nothing seems to be off limits, these are real families that get 15 minutes to air their issues to the nation with no positive background story.

JK doesn’t want average Joe, they want people with cheating issues, addiction problems, whose the father storylines, that isn’t the same as Love Island.

I have zero sympathy for Caprice, but no one needs Jeremy Kyle back on their screens. Ugh.

Exactly what bridget said.

Because what we definitely need are more deplorable men given a massive platform to 'have their say'.

BigFatLiar · 27/02/2020 15:23

He's coming back because he's popular and draws in the viewers and so also the advertisers. Someone who gets lots of advertising money isn't going to be off screen for too long unless they do something pretty awful.

It may be a rubbish show but lots of popular TV is.

It was always inevitable he would be back on ITV - his contract was for a good few million and they can’t recoup that; despite what we may it may not think, he was not held personally responsible for the tragic death. If ITV were to have said ‘give us our money back, you brought us into disrepute’ he’d have sued their arse. And won. It would have cost ITV more (but it’s not a route they would have gone down).

The ‘have my say’ doesn’t mean ‘have my say within my own show’. He’ll do a ‘Life Stories-esq’ interview for the channel before the launch of his new series (which won’t be a chat / talk show)

Ugh, he's vile. He's had enough of his say over the year broadcasting his ignorance and general cunt like twatery to the nation. He's a vile little cretin. Just what the nation needs in a time of be kind. He epitomises everything a man should not be.

It's not a popular view on Mumsnet but I love a bit of Jeremy Kyle Show. Hope it's too far from the original.

Not too fussed either way about JK but I reckon it's anyone who had dealings with Caprice on DOI who needs "After care". 🤔

ITV participated in the Schofield 'coming out' palaver. That tells you everything you need to know about them. There isn't anything they won't do for money or men of a certain age Hmm

I would rather stick hot pins in my eyes than watch anything with Jeremy Kyle in it. His previous show was the epitome of trash tv. I cannot for the life of me understand how anybody could find it remotely entertaining.

Why shouldnt JK be back on T.V ? Ant McPartlin, is back on prime time t.v with people's blessings, he is an ex alcoholic druggie who drove whilst under the influence of both alcohol and drugand crashed into another car that was carrying children, luckily the werent seriously hurt or killed. He is a cheat and a liar. If he can break the law and be welcomed back why shouldnt someone who hasnt broken the law be bannished for ever ?

I meant more because of #BeKind as a direct result of a suicide indirectly associated with one of their shows and they choose now of all times to announce that Jeremy Kyle is to make a comeback. It just seems like a really stupid decision from my POV

He does the kyle files doesn't he? He will do his say programme then do that , Jeremy kyle will have a contract that IT:V are probably trying to honour? I don't think anybody has had such a fuss on DOI as Capricrice what "aftercare" does she need?

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 27/02/2020 16:14

Lol at Caprice needing “aftercare” after coming off DOI!!

why is love island still on tv ? i think there has been 3 suicides ?
is it because it's so popular [fuck knows why] and a golden egg financially ?

Report
Mrsjayy · 27/02/2020 16:17

I don't think we can blame love island for suicide sad as it is.

There is one blindingly obvious way to prevent this from happening.

And that is to persuade everybody to not watch it.

Just don't watch the bloody thing. If there is a slump in viewing figures, they will not be able to sell advertising space during the programme, and if there is no advertising revenue then ITV will not want to buy the programme from the production company which makes it.

Too much of a money spinner to stay off air long

Suppose he needs a job ruining someone’s life, he couldn’t stay away forever. Can’t really see him disappearing and getting a normal job.
