To think that daffodils are a bit thick really?

Six inches of snow, and there they are, poking their heads through, in full bloom. Clearly they will have frozen in no time. Is it asking too much to expect them to think it through?

I know we haven’t had any snow yet here. But doesn’t stop them waving about being all springy in winter.

Papergirl1968 Thu 27-Feb-20 11:33:43

You’re right. Bit daf-t really grin

LordStrange Thu 27-Feb-20 11:34:44

I think their problem is their insane optimism for spring rather than stupidity.

WalkingDeadTrainee Thu 27-Feb-20 11:35:03

Derail, but where are you that you have six inch of snow!? I must visit

Spudlet Thu 27-Feb-20 11:35:15

grin

porple Thu 27-Feb-20 11:35:42

it always makes me so sad to see them pop up only to die when it snows

Pipandmum Thu 27-Feb-20 11:37:59

I love daffodils! Happy flowers! We had a late snow squall last year and the daffs got covered but survived. No chance of any snow now and they ate standing out proud and loud.
Amazing determination to grow through snow though.

Coldemort Thu 27-Feb-20 11:38:53

And then the Welsh come along and shamelessly decapitate them for rugby hats shock

P1nkHeartLovesCake Thu 27-Feb-20 11:43:00

We’ve no snow here but the daffs have been in full bloom for about a week.

They are early this year surely, isn’t it normally March when they bloom?

sidesplittinglol Thu 27-Feb-20 11:45:27

Spudlet that made me laugh grinsmile

Coldemort Thu 27-Feb-20 11:50:00

@P1nkHeartLovesCake I've always had a bunch of daffs on St David's day (1st March), so usual to see them in Feb. I did however buy my first supermarket bunch last week of Jan which seems v.early but not sure if they're outdoor grown

KezQueen Thu 27-Feb-20 11:51:59

Damn daft-odils.

DMCWelshcakes Thu 27-Feb-20 11:53:03

The daffs in my garden are still sulking underground. They've only got 3 days to come up before Sunday!

TheFaerieQueene Thu 27-Feb-20 11:53:05

@Spudlet 🤣

LizzieMacQueen Thu 27-Feb-20 11:54:16

None here but we have crops of snowdrops. Wonder what's happened to my daffs this year, Central Scotland and sunny, no snow.

BecauseReasons Thu 27-Feb-20 11:54:27

I saw an embankment of them when I was driving home earlier today. Sun was shining, sky is blue. Felt very spring-like.

SpeedofaSloth Thu 27-Feb-20 11:56:01

They are so beautiful and cheery that I am prepared to overlook their hopeless over optimistic ways daffodil

TabbyM Thu 27-Feb-20 11:59:40

Where are daffodils in flower???

Green spikes here in East Scotland but crocus coming out.

shinyredbus Thu 27-Feb-20 12:00:11

Errrr you’re calling a flower ‘thick’? As in stupid? confused

TimeForPlentyIn2020 Thu 27-Feb-20 12:06:43

shinyredbus I think the OP is being playful.

eosmum Thu 27-Feb-20 12:09:44

There is one daff that blooms on christmas day in my garden.

TSSDNCOP Thu 27-Feb-20 12:10:14

They make my heart joyful.

You can’t argue about the stupid though. It’s not like March isn’t a bit blowy every.single.year.

justcly Thu 27-Feb-20 12:10:32

WalkingDeadTrainee: Northumberland. I'm not saying we've had six inches of snow, I'm saying that's what is piled up in my flower bed.

@shinyredbus: Did you have your sense of humour by-pass on the NHS, or did you go private?

Cosmos45 Thu 27-Feb-20 12:10:35

@shinyredbus - I think its just a wee joke..
