Hi all, just sanity checking something that happened.
Both Couple A & Couple B together for 20+ years, children etc. The couples have known each for a couple of years. Not particularly close but have always got on well in social situations. This particular night, everyone getting quite but still lucid. Wife B is paying particular attention to Husband A. Husband B is elsewhere (at the party), Wife B is sitting at Husband A's shoulder. Wife B is talking directly to Wife A, says "My husband (Husband B) really does like you (Wife A), but not as much as I (Wife B) like Husband A."
This has caused some stress in Couple A, as Husband A cannot see any issue. Is Wife A being unreasonable to think Wife B has just signalled a very "special" or "creepy" interest in Husband A and that Wife B was being somewhat insulting towards Wife A by saying this so openly? .
