Probably a billion threads on this but i've been tagged and seen loads of this "wear your crown" business on Facebook,
But the line "if i havent tagged you dont be disappointed, i've chosen those who i thought would make this fun" seems a bit ironic in terms of the whole "be kind" malarky going around.

Geekster1963 Tue 18-Feb-20 20:06:24

My Facebook is full of this shit. I’ve not responded to any of it.

Forcryingoutloudwtf Tue 18-Feb-20 20:06:57

Also it's not fun. It's just an excuse to put a picture of yourself looking 'fantastic' on the internet.

Crookshanks24 Tue 18-Feb-20 20:07:18

I feel like it's an excuse for people to post a selfie, been tagged in so many just today, I think it's ridiculous.

Thorilicious Tue 18-Feb-20 20:07:35

I'm ignoring any tags. This type of thing is exactly what causes issues in the first place

RHu1966 Tue 18-Feb-20 20:13:36

Revolting. Let me put a picture of myself on the internet and if you don't say something lovely about me, well, you're mean and no fun, aren't you. And as for "Let's do this for Caroline Flack"... horrible

GertiMJN Tue 18-Feb-20 20:14:46

TwitTwoobee I saw this and thought exactly the same!
Post a selfie, invite compliments and insult those you don't tag! hmm

DukeChatsworth Tue 18-Feb-20 20:17:02

Hate it. Ego filling shite. Being kind should be the default all the time and not this months band wagon.

OoohTheStatsDontLie Tue 18-Feb-20 20:17:16

I thought the same. Implies the people that aren't tagged are too boring

WelcomeToShootingStars Tue 18-Feb-20 20:18:57

People keep tagging me in these, and it's confusing me because firstly I don't understand what posting a selfie has to do with being kind, and secondly I'm very boring.

Iwantacookie Tue 18-Feb-20 20:19:15

I'm glad it's not just me that thinks this way.

maddiemookins16mum Tue 18-Feb-20 20:21:03

Meh, the usual sort of ‘look at me’ pointless nonsense that Fakebook is famous for.
Sadly, it will all be yesterdays news in a week or so.

Bartlet Tue 18-Feb-20 20:24:21

These are always posted by a certain kind of woman who is clearly fishing for compliments whilst at the same time making herself seem really popular, zany but kind which seems to be the vacuous new buzzword du jour.

Funny how these things are never ever done by men.

GertiMJN Tue 18-Feb-20 20:25:35

the usual sort of ‘look at me’ pointless nonsense
It's the fact that this one comes complete with an insult that makes it stand out. I almost wonder if it was done deliberately to show up how dumb the majority of people are that blindly "share" without thinking

Fruityb Tue 18-Feb-20 20:31:30

I got tagged in one by my sister in law who dives full throttle onto any band wagon that exists. She’s the most attention seeking woman I know!

No idea why she tagged me in it.

I never partake in any of that stuff. Cannot be arsed!

OscarWildesCat Tue 18-Feb-20 20:34:43

Hate these things with a bloody passion and anyone who knows me, knows that too and wont tag me. I'll admit people I thought would know better are putting up these things and I'm thinking less of them for it.

Fourtights Tue 18-Feb-20 20:40:19

I've seen it and I don't really like it. The 'people who'll make this fun' line is quite thoughtless.

The principal of the thing irritates me too. Firstly, why complain about bullying on social media/the press on one hand with a meme that focuses on women's physical image? Why are we perpetuating this stuff by obsessing about getting praise for how we look?

The whole 'wear your crown' thing is irritating too. I'm not a Queen, I'm not a Princess, I'm an ordinary women thank you very much and so are the overwhelming majority of you. I'm not special and neither are you - and that's fine. It's OK to not be special.

It's one of the most thoughtless and superficial memes that I've seen in a while.

iMatter Tue 18-Feb-20 20:41:22

YANBU at all

GabsAlot Tue 18-Feb-20 20:43:53

i agree a couple of people have tagged me ive ignored it a picture of me why?

so we can all be fake and say how nice we all look hows that going to help

Honeyroar Tue 18-Feb-20 20:48:26

Completely agree, I hate most of these boring junk share threads “that I have been nominated for”, but this one is especially bad.

TomeOfSomething Tue 18-Feb-20 20:53:14

those and the breast cancer awareness ones (most of us know about breast cancer, a good few of us know someone affected by it - "I like it on the stairs" or other shite is helping fucking no one) and the long list of being there to listen which ends with 'copy and paste' (fucks me off as i'm not interested in reading someones elses shit pretending to be yours)

Dipi79 Tue 18-Feb-20 20:55:01

I untag myself from shit like that. Ugh.

DappledThings Tue 18-Feb-20 20:55:10

Load of old shit.

I can't imagine anyone will tag me but I'm not offended. I absolutely won't make it fun as I never post photos of myself anyway. Saying I wouldn't make this idiotic thing fun is just recognising that I wouldn't join in anyway.

BookWitch Tue 18-Feb-20 20:55:44

This is really pissing me off too. I don't buy into celebrity culture, have never watched Love Island or TOWIE or Celebrity etc. Hell, I don't even know who the people on Strictly are. I had never heard of this lady til a few days ago. She is even getting blanket coverage on the BBC and it would appear it is reaching Diana proportions on some platforms. She assaulted her boyfriend didn't she? Granted not convicted, but not the nicest person.

And now people are telling ME on FB to #BeKind.

Fuck Off. I am kind, I am polite (mostly). I don't slag people off.
I am over-weight, grumpy and prone to a rant. But I don't judge people on what they wear, what their nails look like and how thin (or not) they are.

The most vacuous person I have on FB (who I would unfriend if we were not in the same volunteer group and would cause big waves) has just posted this wear a crown nonsense and fortunately I am not one of her 50 "fun" friends. Thank fuck for that.

Thanks. I feel better now (Maybe I'll say it on FB too!)

KatyButton Tue 18-Feb-20 20:56:43

I thought this exact same thing! I wasn’t personally offended because the person who was doing it is barely even an acquaintance but the “don’t be offended if you’re no fun” did seem awful!
I hate these kind of things - “post a picture of your dog to raise awareness of diabetes” or some such nonsense.
