Dh is terrible for not flushing the loo after he's had a wee. HIs main excuses are:

"It was in the night I didn't want to wake you up"

well you did wake me up stomping around to get there so flush it anyway and the smell of your congialed {sp} first thingin the morning isn't helping my hyperemesis.

"I haven't flushed the loo this time because I know I'll need to go again before I go up to bed"

I mean for ffs just flush the f**ing toilet you scummy arse

or AIBU?

ConnorTraceptive Tue 04-Sep-07 12:38:03

congialed piss that should say

mears Tue 04-Sep-07 12:39:12

Environmentalists say you shouldn't flush each time you go - it is a huge waste of water.

I hate a used loo though....

TheArmadillo Tue 04-Sep-07 12:40:19

dp does this - it drives me up the wall.

It smells and is horrible to walk into a toilet full of piss.

NomDePlumeIsOffWorkToday Tue 04-Sep-07 12:40:21

I don't flush the loo everytime I have a wee (especially if I know DH is going straight after me). It just seems like a waste of water/money

robinpud Tue 04-Sep-07 12:41:23

If it's yellow, why not let it mellow?

LiliAnjelika Tue 04-Sep-07 12:42:06

At least it's only congealed piss you have to contend with. My dh leaves material of a more solid nature in bowl. Same excuses. He also blames having no sense of smell. ps He also leaves door open whilst having a shit, (TMI) and never opens window. The worst is when someone calls unexpectedly and asks to use loo, and you've forgotten to check!!! The shame of it.

ConnorTraceptive Tue 04-Sep-07 12:42:36

But it really does smell and at the moment I'm rushing to be sick at a moments notice and coming face to face with 12 hour old piss is just gross.

TheArmadillo Tue 04-Sep-07 12:42:49

Male urine though smells really strong. My bathroom is downstairs next to kitchen. I don't want to smell piss when I'm cooking. He only goes twice a day so it's not like he's flushing a lot.

It is rank though.

mistypeaks Tue 04-Sep-07 12:48:00

The aussies have a saying . .
If its yellow let it mellow.
If its brown flush it down.
Water saving and all that. We go by this (no pun intended) in our house, but then I don;t have morning sickness and it doesn't bother me. If that were the case then dh would have to respect my feelings or feel my wrath. So no YANBU.

ConnorTraceptive Tue 04-Sep-07 12:49:05

Do understand it's better for the environment and i'm all for that but sorry i just can't stomach it.

Will offset our toilet flushing with other environmentally friendly activity grin

HappyDaddy Tue 04-Sep-07 13:06:10

We've started the if it's yellow thing, since moving house. Only cos the bathroom is right next to dds bedroom and the flush will wake her in the night.

Tell your DH that great personal hygiene (and this is a personal hygiene issue IMO) hugely enhances a man's sex appeal and that you would be so much more amorous if he could use the loo without leaving a trace of his passage there behind him wink

TheQueenOfQuotes Tue 04-Sep-07 13:07:51

we generally do the yeelow thing too. Can't say I've particularly noticed any "smell" from it..

MrsScavo Tue 04-Sep-07 13:12:29

Connor Traceptive, are you the person who started the thread about your boys missing the loo when they pee? hmm

LaDiDaDi Tue 04-Sep-07 13:14:59

In your circumstances, ie hyperemesis, YANBU but in our house we often don't flush after wees. Saving water etc.

Niecie Tue 04-Sep-07 13:33:51

I don't think YABU as you are feeling so rough - complete nightmare for you and DH should have more consideration. Tell him you won't flush your sick away and see how he feels!

On the other hand we don't flush toilets at night as it is so noisy and we don't always flush during the day if somebody is using the toilet straight after us - for a wee anyway.

One way of saving water is to put a 'hippo' or a brick in the cistern which will reduce the amount of water that is used in a flush if 'man' wee is too smelly to leave but you don't want to waste water.

mawbroon Tue 04-Sep-07 13:37:51

I would normally say YABU as we do the yellow and brown rule in this house, but as you are suffering from morning sickness, then I think you are being reasonable and he needs to be a little more considerate.

ConnorTraceptive Wed 05-Sep-07 12:22:13

No MrsScarvo didn't start that one Dh is quite a good aim!

breeze Wed 05-Sep-07 12:27:51

we also do the yellow thing.

We do drink lots and lots of water so its almost clear anyway and not noticed the smell, apart from the odd male missing the toilet together.

You can get a hippo thingy that you can stick in the cistern to actually use less water.

HorseyWoman Thu 06-Sep-07 00:19:37

Our cistern is set so we only use half the water in it. We don't flush the loo after a wee but we do after the other. I hate it, but I hate what needless water use does, more, so we just carry on. There's no smell as we use ecover stuff in the loo.

If it's yellow, let it mellow;
If it's brown, flush it down!
(Johnathon Ross).

HorseyWoman Thu 06-Sep-07 00:20:46

But in your circumstances, YANBU

EricL Thu 06-Sep-07 00:21:14

Yep - flushing the toilet every time is an awful waste of water. It is a habit we all need to get out of really.

HorseyWoman Thu 06-Sep-07 00:21:52

Didn't realise he stole it from the Aussies! Johnathon Ross is a thief! wink

At the Eden Project, they use recycled rainwater collected in tanks under the ground, for their plumbing systems.
