I think that the whole Sussex debacle has taken over the press rather than Brexit. Crazy when you consider the apocalypse type warnings we had over the previous dates... I'm a remainder and feel very sad about it but for the stability of our country feel it now needs to be done

I've not watched/read the news since the election, and as far as I'm concerned the Brexiteers who allegedly definitely knew what they were voting for can reap what they sow. Anyone who thinks that the Tories have achieved "get Brexit done" on Friday is utterly deluded as that will be the start of years of working out what the fuck happens next. Still no one has been able to set out exactly how we'll be better off outside the EU. I've seen nothing to suggest my life, that of my kids, and of everyone else in the UK will be improved by it. Nothing at all. So best to let Friday quietly pass.

It's a disaster. I'm appalled. I think a lot less of brexiteers even the friends of mine who voted for it and regret it. You voted for it so own it.
I think that somehow they will manage to blame remainers if it goes tits up.
I think that brexiteers are appalling and all the hardened ones are unpleasant racists. I am resigned to it but still heartbroken.
We're fucked. I intend to delete all the news apps from my phone, all social media and avoid all news or live TV for at least a week.

Of course we haven't forgotten! Anybody (from either camp) who's followed the news knows it's happening. It's just that 31 Jan is nothing to get excited about. Definitely not forgotten here, my boyfriend is a citizen of an EU country (not the UK) and his application for the EU settlement scheme still hasn’t been processed despite applying in August.

He has major surgery coming up in his home country, he wanted to use the specialist who has been treating him since childhood. But the recovery time if everything goes well is lengthy so he can’t risk being outside of the UK for that long.

The NHS waiting list to even be considered for the surgery is around 14 months, the wait to then have surgery is around 8 months due to a lack of specialists. If it fails the NHS won’t provide further treatment, where as his home country would then carry out another procedure that has a very high success rate.
