To have walked out of Uncut gems

Never in all my years have I walked out of a film.

Dh chose it and he was relieved when I said shall we go.

It was physically and mentally exhausting. I can't think of another movie like it.

And WTF was the music? Had no connection to what was happening on screen.

There is a big pay off at the end, though.

I really liked it but I agree that it's exhausting. The tension just keeps building and I never got bored, never checked my watch. The whole time I was thinking, "what is this guy going to do next?"

At what point did you walk out? Was it when he was in the nightclub with Julia and Demany?

I liked the music.

I've heard it is REALLY difficult to watch and the central character extremely unpleasant.

Nominations came out yesterday, he didn't get one.

Is never going to get shown in my crappy big blockbusters only local so I'll have to try it on Netflix.

My sister-in-law walked out too. On Rotten Tomatoes the critics have given it a 91% fresh score, but audiences only 51% fresh.

Knives Out and Ford v Ferrari are really great.

Oh. I was mildly intrigued by this film at the start of this thread and then changed my mind when I read Adam Sandler was involved. Ugh. Can’t stand him.

Perhaps not on the same level as I don’t think he is as well known for ‘goofball’ roles, but Shia Lebouf is considered a serious Oscar contender this year for his role in Honey Boy, even though he was (is?) considered an absolute laughing stock in Hollywood and is seen as a child actor.

No fan of Shia here and I haven't seen it but this is untrue.

Honey Boy was extremely well received and his absence from the nominations is seen as a snub in line with the Academy's general failure to acknowledge smaller films.

@EineReiseDurchDieZeit you misunderstood my comment, I meant Shia was considered a laughing stock recently up until Honey Boy, where he surprised audiences with his performances although I didn’t know he wasn’t nominated for it as @AngeloMysterioso pointed out - before that, there were certainly talks that he was a shoe-in to be nominated for an award this year.

"A Child called It" is a best selling book about a man's childhood. I'd even say it was worth 'less' (using your argument) because the author wasn't famous when he wrote it.
