I know this might sound really weird but i am. She is a lovely kind and considerate lady. Her hubby is v ill in hospital with heart attack and it was my birthday last week. Needless to say, she forgot - today i get a card saying so sorry its late and ÂŁ20 in an envelope! As if she didnt have enough to worry about.
She brought up my DP so that cant be bad, considering that he is the most considerate person i know and she never ever puts herslef first. EVER.
Of course, she does my head in, she faffs for England (now i know where DP gets if from), she irons socks FFS and EVERYTHING else. She has very different views on childcare than i do and would probably wind me up if i had to have too much input from her. She is a like a rotweiller with a bone over often petty things, i have often said to DP - don't mention that to your mum when we visit - as i know that she will not let it go and i will be almost mad with boredom by the time we leave over her ranting about being short changed in the post office. She thinks you should put butter on a burn, she thinks its ok for children to eat chocolate until it comes out of their ears, its ok to have Ribena in a bottle and probably has a secret supply of giant suasage rolls and is like Mrs Doyle when it comes to hospitality "no really MIL ten cups of tea were fine, no, actually we have just eaten (because you cant cook!) so we don't really have room for your soggy fish paste sandwiches, no its ok DD doesnt really need that packet of wotsits - ah, go on go on, you will you will ad nauseum.
BUT i will forgive her all that, i find it quite endearing, cos she is blardy lovely my MIL.
