Found this while flicking through the channels and there's a woman on there talking about some erotic story she's written and how she's turning it into a "live sex show" - lots of talk about porn, pornos, eroticism etc.

It's frigging half past ten on a Saturday morning. Wtf is going on?

GoGoLego Sat 14-Dec-19 10:59:42

It's Alice Levine form My Dad Wrote A Porno. It's hilarious. When the presenter said dad dancing for erotic fiction it sums it right up. It's really not as bad as it sounds

BerwickLad Sat 14-Dec-19 11:50:47

But at 10.30 on a Saturday morning? Using words like porn and pornos and live sex? Really?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz Sat 14-Dec-19 11:52:11

OP how many kids are actually sat watching it though?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz Sat 14-Dec-19 11:52:51

talking about some erotic story she's written and how she's turning it into a "live sex show"

And clearly even you weren't listening as this isn't even the case.

Please go find something actually worth while to be outraged about. Food bank use for example.

Sparklesocks Sat 14-Dec-19 11:54:30

It’s meant to be a parody/comedy podcast

MoveOnTheCards Sat 14-Dec-19 11:54:45

You really should listen to the podcast OP. It’s hilarious and not what you’d clearly expect!

Elbeagle Sat 14-Dec-19 11:54:46

We had it on and my 6 and 4 year olds were in the room. As they have no idea what porn or pornos are though they didn’t even register.

FudgeBrownie2019 Sat 14-Dec-19 11:55:30

MDWAP is hilarious. Listen to it and calm yourself.

BloggersBlog Sat 14-Dec-19 11:55:34

If it really is as you said, then YANBU. I didnt see it so cant say for sure though.

BerwickLad Sat 14-Dec-19 11:56:27

Omg there are food banks?! And poverty?; I literally had no idea because all I've ever thought about was porn chat on Saturday Kitchen.

QueenWhatevs Sat 14-Dec-19 11:57:25

I love the podcast and I'm going to watch this Saturday Kitchen on iPlayer but I actually agree with you OP. Not appropriate content.

BerwickLad Sat 14-Dec-19 11:58:18

I don't really care what the podcast is about; I'm just not keen on hearing the word porn juxtaposed with that sweaty bloke chopping mushrooms.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz Sat 14-Dec-19 12:01:32

How old are your kids OP? Did they ask any questions or seem bothered by the content?

longtompot Sat 14-Dec-19 12:02:09

I think it was well talked about. A lot of this stuff goes right over kids heads. Think of the adult humour thats in a panto for example. I really like Alice Levine, though not listened to her podcast or even her radio 1 show for that matter, just through seeing her in various interviews.
Matt however, was a bit of a giggly school kid about it all, so perhaps if he hadn't gone on about it, then it might have not been so prominent.

BerwickLad Sat 14-Dec-19 12:04:15

Amazingly enough, it's possible to have an opinion about appropriate broadcasting content even if your own precious smashers are unaffected.

misspiggy19 Sat 14-Dec-19 12:05:54

I didn’t think it was appropriate for Saturday morning either OP.

Sparklesocks Sat 14-Dec-19 12:12:20

I understand your frustration OP but I don’t think passive aggression and sarcasm in your replies is really necessary

SummerPavillion Sat 14-Dec-19 12:28:12

YA obviously NBU. Glad my dc weren't watching it, I don't fancy explaining those words quite yet.

nopocketsgrr Sat 14-Dec-19 12:28:16

It is not suitable at all for daytime telly. How can anyone think it is?

Why shouldn't kids be watching Saturday Kitchen? We sometimes bake while it is on and while it may go over the heads of the youngest children it won't go over the heads of 9 years plus. It is bad enough to think they have heard about porn and sex etc via other kids (and they often have even if we think they haven't) but it really does not need normalising via daytime telly that should be family friendly. Bloody BBC.

SplashingAroundTown Sat 14-Dec-19 12:31:38

I absolutely agree OP

BloggersBlog Sat 14-Dec-19 12:51:27

Quite enjoying the sarky replies grin

TheGoldenNotebook Sat 14-Dec-19 12:57:22

Of course it's inappropriate. The way porn (and therfore the objectification of predominantly women) has entered the mainstream is worrying. As more women die at the hands of men in "sex games gone wrong", society needs to take a bit of responsibility. Part of that should be not serving up the normalisation of porn on a Saturday morning TV show. Oh and i can be cross about lots of things at the same time... Food banks, misogyny, Brexit. Which is just really given the current climate.

CuriousaboutSamphire Sat 14-Dec-19 13:00:39

Made me smile. Not quite as you described, OP, and all pretty innocent. They were quite careful with their language.

Did you not hear the Spanish chef say, about himself not the book, that he felt raped? He was quietly corrected, offered a better word and they all moved on without drawing attention to it!!

Far more tricky to explain to a kid than someone going to a fancy dress party as a location... handcuffed to trellis wink
