AIBU?

IF this is true, AIBU to be gobsmacked?

Popped up on my Facebook so for all I know, it could be fake news. BUT if it's not....

I feel shocked and kinda mildly sad about it.

And I know that's probably being unreasonable. Every vote is equal, and all ages have a say.

But... fuck me.

That the attitudes in the country are SO skewed depending on which side of fifty you fall on is worrying. The fact cons would have returned 0 seats in the youngest age bracket makes me wonder what incentive they have to lift a finger for them.

Well, they wouldn’t.

SD1978 · 14/12/2019 04:51

And they managed to establish confirmed age of voters already?

bohemia14 · 14/12/2019 04:52

Fake news. It isn't possible to know the age of voters.

JolieOBrien · 14/12/2019 05:04

My son voted conservative and he is 27 and a trainee Lawyer.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 14/12/2019 05:11

I'm 24 and I voted Conservative, if that helps.

There's no way they could possibly know this for sure.

VenusTiger · 14/12/2019 05:15

Impossible BS.
Of course it’s made up, where’s the but on the ballot paper that asks for your DOB

VenusTiger · 14/12/2019 05:15

*bit

SerenDippitty · 14/12/2019 05:15

I’m 58 and voted Labour.

coolwalking · 14/12/2019 05:16

Diversity, which the Labour party are all about, means EVERYONE is counted and matters. The divisive statistics (if true) are nothing to be proud of.

SeaWitchly · 14/12/2019 05:22

I’m 46 and voted Labour.

speakout · 14/12/2019 05:26

Wow!

AllideasAndNoAction · 14/12/2019 05:26

To come up with accurate data like this would take months, not 24 hours.

Even if it were largely true, so what? We all know that 18-25 year olds are idealists who have a general lack of experience and wisdom compared to older people with lived experiences and long memories. Doesn't that count for anything?

The young don't tend to bother voting in anything like the same numbers as older people, so who should the young blame when they don't get their desired outcome? It's not the old people, is it? It's their peers who simply couldn't be bothered to engage, or felt too confused to make a confident decision.

Rest assured if this map is a true representation of people's political leanings according to age group then the young will get their time and be heard. All those old people were young idealists instead of Tory cunts once.

I wonder at what age they all started to change their minds?

GiveHerHellFromUs · 14/12/2019 05:38

What a ridiculous sweeping statement.
At what age do I stop being an idealist and start being rude and ignorant?

Rosehip345 · 14/12/2019 05:42

At least read the prior post in full before commenting 🤦‍♀️

@Rosehip345 I read the full post and it changes nothing.

HopeItComesWithBatteries · 14/12/2019 05:51

Here we go. Yet another goady thread trying to stir up trouble and bad feeling between factions. Don’t you think the country’s had enough of this?

Stop it.

WellErrr · 14/12/2019 05:52

Of course it’s not true, you don’t put your age on the ballot paper.

I am assuming you are talking about those people voting for labour, so just to give you a different point of view I voted for the tory party between 18-30 and then I had a massive mental breakdown and had to deal with everything the tory party has now done in the last 9 years, that has changed my point of view on fucking everything, at some point they are going to have to stop blaming the labour party, they have had 9 years in power.

I am looking forward to my 40 hospitals
20,000 police
50,000 nurses

Lets not forget that is what they have been elected on as long as they get brexit

BowermansNose · 14/12/2019 05:58

I doubt the accuracy, but quick polling by Michael Ashcroft does show a big age split.

lordashcroftpolls.com/

According to this poll, only 19% of the 18 to 24 age group voted Conservative, compared to 62% of the over 65s

Bunnybigears · 14/12/2019 05:59

It is fake, votes are anonymous so how would they know the ages?

66 and voted labour. I think they do know your age, it doesn’t take long to analyse data these days.
You probably expect youngsters to predominantly labour if they have massive uni debts.

Mummyoflittledragon · 14/12/2019 06:06

Sky was reporting on the age demographic of voters in the very early hours of the morning yesterday as the results were being announced. I started watching around 2.30 so this was perhaps from 4am. It no longer takes months to collate such figures.
